Amanda's Rape

Simon's Arraignment

The next day Nick and I awoke at 7:00. We wanted to be up in time for arraignment. We both showered and got dressed. We went to the coffee shop across from the court house to hang out before.

Nick: I hope he gets remanded. I swear if he doesn't I will come off my hinges.

I sat there staring off into space. I was so horrified about what could happen. I shuddered. Nick put his hand on top of mine. He gently stroked it. I pulled it away. I felt awkward and uneasy.

Nick: You okay?

Me: No not really. I'm scared beyond belief.

Nick: It'll be okay.

I continued to stare out the window. At 8:00 we headed across the street and into the courthouse. We entered the courtroom and sat down. A few moments later they brought Simon into the room. He stared at me and gave me a smile. I jerked my head away and a tear rolled down my face. Nick pulled me into a tight hug. Simon's attorney entered the room. Soon after-Fin and Elliot came in. The judge arrived soon after. 10 minutes later the ADA, Casey Novak, came in and took her spot. It was like 8:50 by the time everyone came in. Simon's attorney and the Casey got their papers in order within 10 minutes. The arraignment has begun.

Judge: How does the defendant plead?

Simon blurted out.

Simon: Guilty.

Simon's attorney quickly responded.

Attorney: Simon shut up! Not guilty your honor.

Judge: What are the people on bail?

Casey: The people request remand your honor. The defendant is an extreme flight risk. He has been a suspect in a ton of rapes and he even confessed to this one.

Attorney: Your honor those were false acusations. He doesn't need remand.

Judge: I'm sorry counselor but I have to agree with Ms. Novak on this one. The defendant will be remanded until trial.

Judge Donnelley banged her gavel and the court was dismissed. Nick and I jumped up and hug each other tighter than ever. I began crying years of joy again. Nick and I left the courthouse and went home. We went inside and sat on the couch. Nick turned on the TV. Simon was all over the news.

Me: Turn it off. Please.

Nick quickly pressed the power button on the remote. He always did what I told him to now a days. He didn't want to upset me. We had a conversation about arraignment.

Nick: I'm so glad that fucknut was remanded.

Me: Yeah me too.

A smile spread across my face. I almost broke into a laugh.

Nick: What are u smiling about?

He was smiling too.

Me: Fucknut is Olivia's favorite curse word. Olivia! I have to tell her!

I grabbed my phone and quickly dialed her number.

Olivia: Benson?

Me: Olivia guess what?!

Olivia: What?!

Me: Simon got remanded!

Olivia: That's great! I hate my brother with a strong passion I can't even express I to words how bad I hate him.

Me: Yeah...

Olivia: Well listen. I'm a little busy right now. Can I call you back later?

Me: Yeah sure.

Olivia: Ok talk to you soon. Bye!

She hung up. I could tell she was with Elliot. Just by the sound of her voice. Those two lovebirds were adorable!
