From Excited to Worried

I ran out of the bathroom crying with joy. Nick turned around and looked extremely worried.

Nick: Amanda what's wrong baby?!?!

I didn't know how to get it out of my mouth without overwhelming him so I just said it.

Me: Nick I'm..im....PREGNANT!

Nick was so shocked yet so excited. He picked me up by my waist and spun me around in the air.

Nick: Amanda this is amazing! This is the best news ever!

He kissed me and I was still teary eyed. He wiped away my tears and we sat on the couch. He pulled me closer to him. Then it all hit me. What is the baby wasn't Nick's? What if it was Simon's? My heart stopped. I started crying harder than ever. Nick looked confused because he could tell they weren't happy tears.

Nick: Amanda honey what's wrong?

Me: Nick. What if the baby isn't yours? What if it's Simon's?

Nick looked at me horrified. He hadn't thought about this.

Nick: Well we need to get a DNA test!

Me: But Nick it's too early for that. I have to be six weeks along...

Nick began to panic. He really hoped the baby was his. But he did have his doubts. What if the baby really wasn't his?

Me: I don't think I was ovulating when I was r-raped.

It was hard for that sentence to escape my mouth. Nick looked at me and he sorta felt a tiny better.

Nick: I hope you weren't. If the baby isn't mine I don't know what I would do.

Me: Nick it's most likely yours but I'm going to take the DNA test to be safe.

We began to ignore the conversation. I snuggled my head in Nick's chest. Just then my phone rang. It was from Captain.

Me: Hello?

Cragen: Hi Amanda. We have some information. Simon confessed. Arraignment is in the morning at 9:00.

Me: Thanks Captain.

I hung up the phone and told Nick what Captain had said. He hugged me and spoke.

Nick: I hope that man rots in his cell.

I sat there shaking. What if Simon walked free?
