The Luna laid wide awake in her bed, her chosen mate's arms wrapped around her. She looked out the window, staring at the branch lying across her view. She sighed, wiggling her body to escape his embrace.

He started to groan, forcing his head to go between her neck and shoulder. The Luna froze, breathing heavily. When the Alpha sighed, the Luna slid off the bed.

She turned around looking at the Alpha, who laid asleep. She bite her lip before brushing his shaggy hair out of his eyes. She stared at him one more time before she left the room, dragging a blanket across the floor.

She knew her mate wouldn't want her walking around in her underwear, even if everyone was fast asleep. She twinkled down the stairs, staring at the front door, where she saw a shadow flash by.

She shook her head, thinking she knew who was at the door. She hopped down the last step before walking towards it.

"Luna?"

She jumped, turning around and dropping the blanket cover the naked parts her underwear wasn't covering. She covered her heart with her hand, staring at the figure sitting on her couch.

"Doctor?" The Luna questioned, her voice soft. She looked up at the stairs, wondering if her mate heard her yelp. "What... what are you doing here?"

The Luna went to grab the blanket, trying to cover herself more.

"No offense, Luna, but we are both female. I have the parts you do." The Doctor chuckled, staring at the Luna's embarrassed face. The Doctor cracked a smile before standing up. "Anyways, what are you doing up?"

"What are you doing here?" The Luna fired back, walking closer to the Doctor.

"I... I needed to talk to you." The Doctor answered her, more out of the Luna's position than anything else.

The Luna looked down, shaking her head. "It was a dare. You know that."

The Doctor shook her head. She put her hands on her hips, opening and closing her mouth. "No. I... um... it wasn't a dare to me."

"I have a mate now. He doesn't like you." The Luna snarled, walking towards the stairs.

"Then where were you going at this time of night, Luna?"

The Luna froze, her feet planted on the ground. She turned around, her eyes narrowed. "Don't say it like that."

"What, Luna?" The Doctor whispered.

"Stop saying it like the devil's name. That name deserves respect." The Luna turned around, standing her ground. "Leave while you're at it or I'll wake up my mate."

"Chosen mate." The Doctor snickered, "The Moon Goddess didn't pair you two together."

"We have her blessing." The Luna whispered, her wolf whined softly at the lost of her true mate. "And that doesn't change the fact that I love him."

The Doctor smile, "Then that leads us back to the question."

The Luna shook her head. "If... if you don't get out," she angrily whispered, "you will know what fear is."

The Doctor sighed before getting up from the coach. She gulped, "Fuck best friends forever, huh?" She slammed the door, waking the sleeping Alpha from upstairs.

"Baby?" He called out, quickly running out of his room. He stopped when he saw his mate on the stairs, tears in her eyes. "What's wrong?"

The Luna shook her head, trying to give her mate a smile. "Nothing. Everything... everything is perfect."

His hand reached out to cup her check, but she pulled away. The Luna stared back at the door, wondering how their relationship crashed and burned. The Doctor and the Luna were like two peas in a pod.

"Baby? Really?" The Alpha growled, grabbing her hips. "Who is making you cry?"

The Luna shook her head, her hands placed on his chest. "It's nothing, really," she sighed, leaning her head against his shoulders. "Can you take me back to bed?"

The Alpha grinned, kissing her forehead. "For you, anything." He quickly lifted her up, making her legs wrap around his waist. He paused for a moment, staring into her eyes.

"What?" The Luna smiled, staring right back into him.

"You look so beautiful," he whispered, smirking at her with his signature grin. "Absolutely beautiful, and you're all mine."

The Luna looked down, blushing at her chosen mate's words. She sighed after a moment, rolling her eyes. "Just take me to bed."

As the Alpha carried his Luna up the stairs, the Doctor was walking down the drive way, her heart bleeding in her hands. She sniffed, turning to look as the last light flickered off.

She rubbed her hands against her arms. She walked through the woods, nodding at the patrols.

All the Doctor wanted to do right now was walk past the border and leave her past behind. She looked at her feet, thinking.

She bit her lip, looking out into the distance.
