"Come on, Layla," Jefferson mumbled, "please don't make this harder than it all ready is."
Luke crossed his arms, glancing behind him at the now closed doors before looking back at Layla. "Layla," he asked, "I believe you."
Jefferson gapped, "Believe her over Jasmine?" He looked bewilder between Layla and Luke.
Luke nodded the two of them to head forwards, and the other two Heads obeyed. The three of them slowly walked, heading away from the court room. Layla glanced behind her, hoping Marley would be fine. Luckily for Marley and Layla, only Alpha Joey can make the final decision, and it wouldn't be tonight.
"When Jasmine was bringing Marley in, all Marley cared about was getting to Gabby," Head Guard Luke answered Jefferson's question, taking the lead and heading towards the hospital.
"Jasmine knew what she was doing. Just because she didn't voice her concerns doesn't mean she didn't care," the Head Trainer sighed, still not happy with Luke. Jefferson rolled his eyes, "Jasmine always puts the pack first."
Luke raised his eyebrows, clicking his tongue as the Hospital came in view, "If she put the pack first, wouldn't she put Gabby before Marley? Wouldn't she have taken a group of the trainees with her to help her patrol? Why would she go alone?"
Layla could only smile, happy she wasn't the only one to believe her mate.
Jefferson shook his head, "None of those trainees were ready. She wouldn't put them at risk."
Luke rebutted, "Yet, there were many wolves who were training separately that would had been willing to help." He turned around, pausing for a moment, "Jefferson, let's say Jasmine did try to kill Gabby and Marley. Lets say the patrol was close enough to hear and they came to the rescue."
Jefferson sighed, nodding his head, "Fine. Jasmine is a evil little demon. Now what?"
"Who else is against Marley?"
Luke asked, moving towards the Hospital again.
He chuckled, "Here's a hint. Doctor Brian."
Jefferson shook his head, "There's no way, Luke. I can agree his a weirdo, but he wouldn't harm the pack."
"Are you willing to bet Gabby's life?" Layla asked, running towards the doors. She knew that both Doctor Eliza and Doctor Brian would treat her. Due to Marley being in trial and Gabby literally dying, both the Alpha and the Luna thought Layla wouldn't be able to handle the stress- especially since her wolf taking over in the hallway.
Nobody made a move to stop the three Heads as they entered. Instead, everyone pipped up in curiosity and concern. News traveled fast.
Apparently, everyone knew what was happening, but that didn't stop people from whispering.
"I heard Marley was guilty, and Doctor Layla decided to take Nurse Gabby for a mate."
"Didn't you hear, Nurse Gabby saved Head Trainer Jasmine's life from that rogue."
"Did something happen to Nurse Gabby?"
A strong wave a chemicals hit their noses as they got deeper into the Hospital.
"Goddess," Jefferson mumbled, "was there was gas leak?" He plugged his nose as he grabbed a nurse questioning what was happening.
Luke and Layla continued, moving through the wave of Nurses and Doctors flooded the Hospital because of the smell.
"Here," Layla pointed, her nose cringing is disgust. "This was where Gabby was being treated in." Luke entered first, pushing the doors open before he growled.
Doctor Layla grabbed his arm, "They must have moved her to a new room. There all this way." Together, they started to run, growling and commanding everyone to move to the side and make room for them.
Suddenly, Jefferson was at their sides. "Everyone is freaking out because of the chemicals. The Nurses and Doctors don't know what's happening, but they have to move a number of patients because of it," he filled them in, automatically trusting them.
He was starting to feel like Marley was innocent.
Once they passed the crowds, they started to smell iron.
"Blood," the Head Doctor confirmed what they were all thinking. She took a deep breath, "It's not Gabby's."
"Doctor Eliza," Luke snapped. He pushed the door opened, and the scent of blood came out like it was falling from a waterfall. Layla stumbled, her eyes taking Doctor Eliza's form in the corner.
She gasped, seeing the puddle of blood underneath her fellow Doctor's body.
Layla didn't noticed as Jefferson and Luke grabbed Doctor Brian. The old man held a long needle in his hands, ready to stab and inject Gabby as she laid unconscious in the table.
It seemed to Doctor Brian that Gabby was making a recovering. Her most critical wounds were healed by the time she reached the Hospital, but she wasn't fully healed.
When she was place in surgery, there was still a chance she could had died if something went terrible wrong.
For Layla, time seemed to slow down. She moved across the floor slowly, trying to get to Eliza. Everything for her was fuzzy, like something was affecting her. She crumbled to the floor, her vision going blurry.
Luke had Doctor Brian contained, and getting him far away from the room. With a Head taking a Doctor from the Hospital forcefully, another nurses rushed into the room.
"Go to whoever needs it more," Jefferson snapped at the hesitation a nurse gave. She quickly went to Doctor Eliza's side, quickly getting to work. He squatted down in front of Layla, "Hey, you ok?"
Layla shook her head as she felt more people entered the room. All of them quickly got to work, talking to each other and ordering each other around.
"Head Trainer Jefferson," a Doctor yelled over the noise, "you need to move. Neither Gabby or Eliza can be move at this point."
Jefferson gritted his teeth before picking up Layla and moving her into a hallway. "Say something, Layla," he positioned Layla so she was leaning against the wall.
"I..." Layla started to whisper, "I don't feel good." Beads of sweat covered her forehead, and Layla felt like she was overheating - like when she was younger and sick. She felt a wave of dizziness roll over her as she gripped Jefferson's arm.
