Both Marley and Joey were dressed as they headed back. Marley glanced at him, gulping.
"How are you feeling, Marley?" Alpha Joey asked as they entered the hospital. Marley shrugged, her wolf completely healing her for the first time in years. She felt strong, independent, and powerful.
"I'm fine, Alpha Joey. Thank you for helping me," she sighed, rubbing the back of her neck. "I know it was irresponsible of me to race after them with no backup, but it was something I needed to do."
Joey hummed, "It was irresponsible. However, I am surprised with you agility and fighting abilities. They are advance for an eighteen year old who had suffered from the only weakness for werewolves."
Marley nodded her head, staying quiet. She couldn't get exactly let out her secret just yet. The young Alpha had a feeling she could trust Joey and his pack, but she would be spilling a secret that was a mystery long before she was even born.
"Can I go see Layla?" Marley asked. During their trip, Alpha Joey already informed Marley of Layla's condition.
Sadly, Alpha Joey shook his head. "The Doctors and Nurses are already working on her. You would only get in the way."
Marley glanced at her fingers, wondering if she would be able to preform. Unlike last time with her wrist, she had a deeper understanding to her powers, and she hoped she will be able to train herself enough.
She peaked at Joey, a thought forming in her head. "Is Luna Denice with Layla?"
The Alpha nodded his head, "Sort of. She's speaking with Doctor Eliza at the moment."
"Is Denice your chosen mate?" Marley asked, genuinely curious. She could easily feel the bond, but she couldn't feel the complete connection like she did with other true fated mates.
Joey raised his eyebrows, wondering if Layla put her own mate up to this. However, once he saw Marley's eyes, he knew she was completely oblivious to what she was asking into.
He nodded his head, "Yes, I felt my mate die when I was younger. The bond snapped." He frowned, remember the pain of losing his other half. His wolf loves Denice, but never as much as he loved the woman he never got the chance to meet. "It took a while, but I fell in love with Denice will she went to college. She wanted nothing to do with me, but then she gave me a chance," he added.
Marley smiled, patting his shoulder, "I'm sure your mate would be happy to see you have fallen in love with Denice. They would want to best for you."
Joey gave her a warm smile, "I hope so."
Marley nodded her head, "I'm sorry that your true mate died. I couldn't imagine never meeting Layla." She looked down at her feet, a small sad smile on her face.
Joey shrugged his shoulders, trying to come off that it doesn't bother him anymore. However, he knew that the bond between him and Denice may never truly be complete due to them not being each other half and for the fact Denice has a true mate out there.
"I'm sorry that I brought your pack war," Marley added, sensing Joey's hesitation at the topic.
Joey straighten up, "I'm sorry we didn't find out sooner. Your pack should never have been lost to us like that." He slowly lead Marley to the same doors Layla once had to wait at when Marley was found and brought to the doctors.

Layla felt like her limbs were bricks. She could open her eyes, the room already dark. She could hear Gabby speak to someone, her tone full of annoyance.
"Just let me in, Gabby."
"Her mate deserves to be the first person to see her," Gabby snapped, "Luna." Layla could imagine the nurse crossing her arms.
Layla gulped, looking around the room. She narrowed her eyes at the counter. The gap was larger than her wingspan, but she wanted answers. Answers to her questions.
Where was Marley? Her little mate who raced after a rogue— a rogue. She needed to make sure Marley was ok.
Marley just had to be ok.
What the hell was Denice here for? Layla couldn't help but grimace. She was Luna, but Gabby was right.
Marley deserved to see her first.
Layla forced herself to walk, hearing her wolf pant in her head. With a deep breath, her right leg moved forward, and Layla held a whimper as all her weight went to her left leg. Slowly, but surely, she reached the door knob.
She slammed open the door, twisting the knob harshly.
Gabby turned around, eye wide, "Layla, you're supposed to be in bed." The nurse quickly helped her friend up, checking for any injuries. "Are you alright?"
Denice blinked before moving to the other side. The Luna brushed back some of the hair that got caught in Layla's mouth.
Layla lips pulled back into a snarl, "Where's Marley?"
"She's with Joey, Layla," Denice answered, helping Gabby moved the Head Doctor back towards the bed. "Everything is ok."
Layla shook her head, her body getting overly heated. She couldn't hear her wolf pant anymore as time started to pass.
Gabby noticed the sweat bearing against her best friend's hairline. She gave a sharp look to Denice when they laid Layla on the bed. "Go get Marley and the Alpha now!" She commanded, and Denice ran towards her mate.
Gabby grabbed Layla's hand, completely worried and terrified. "Layla, what's happening? Tell me what your feeling."
Layla coughed, "I feel like I'm burning up, Gabs. I don't feel good." Her vison started to go blurry as she looked towards the door. She hadn't noticed someone turned on the lights in the room she occupied. She whimpered, "I need Marls."
Tears fell down Gabby's face, "Wolfsbane."

Is Layla going to die?
Will she get to see Marley?
All these questions will be answered in the next chapter.
Yep. Anyways, isn't everything getting exciting. I'm actually getting closer to a part I really want to write. I have to keep reminding myself that I have a story plot outline to follow and I can't rush ahead.
Happy Father's Day!
