FOUR: The "Pause" Button

Sonya POV :

-" What is wrong ? " 

As if the time came to a halt, Delancey was staring into my eyes; pleading for answers.  

-" I'm good," I let out, my voice but a faint whisper.

-" Phew you freaked us out " Frank chuckles before he picks up his half-filled glass from the bar counter and gets back to whatever he was doing.

-" What happened? " 

-" Nothing " Apparently, my nonchalance wages her eyebrow. 

This was big news. Phenomenal news. Perhaps the highlight of my high school year. Maybe this was the one thing I needed to turn my life upside down. In fact, it was going to change my life forever.

Becky POV :

I wake up to find myself in a familiar room. Moments later, my eyes shut down when a rush of pain creeps inside my head and attacks my skull violently. I hold my head. 

- " Feeling better? " I hear my girlfriend's small voice and I see her coming towards me with a cup that smells like medicine.

She hands me the drink and joins me on the bed. She lifts her eyes at me in a soothing manner and rubs my back with so much tenderness that I couldn't help but relax under her touch. She has always been like this, calm, beautiful, serene, and composed.

-" Um," I attempt to look into her dreamy hazel eyes. 

-" I'm sorry about yesterday," she says and I take a sip of the aromatic drink. 

-" But you did cheat on me Anissa," I add, as a matter of fact.

She sighs. Her shoulders drop in what I guess was defeat. Time was running slowly, and it seemed as though it stopped. Right there, right then. She knew it was true as much as I did. Yet, for some reason, she wouldn't tell me why, and I couldn't help but worry about us, and what will become of our 6 precious months relationship, and of the future I imagined together. 

-FLASHBACK-

I met Anissa when I was on a summer trip with my parents to our resort in California. She was lying by the pool and I was strolling around. The resort had a magnificent view of the sunset, so I used to walk around it every time the daytime was going to end.

My hands inside my pockets, I was humming one of Green Day's masterpieces when she came to me with a lovely smile on her face.

-" Hey,". 

-" Hey " I smiled back. 

She twirled her hair. "It might sound strange, but I have a favor to ask..."

I remember saying "no" to my parents when they asked me to find a date for tonight's party, a male partner. I strongly objected to the idea, protesting how I didn't like how fussy it all was, and how it was nothing but a chance for rich people to flaunt their easy and wealthy lives. Not like I was different- I mean this 5 stars resort was one of my parent's many properties -  but I was the I-want-a-simple-life type of wealthy. The one who didn't dream of having their own private jet - but still got it-  and didn't splurge money on shopping. The type who craved simple things, like school, and sleepovers. 

But even school was not a piece of cake in my world. 

-" Sure," I shrugged. 

She was mesmerizing. Her gaze, her posture, her sexy red summery dress, and long brown hair, even to the way the air around her added to her adorable features... She made the first step, closer to me, and my body shivered at her mere closeness and her warm breath against my neck. She peeked on my cheek, and I wished it lasted for the whole night. 

-"Thank you", she pulled away, smearing a small trace of her crimson red lipstick. 

Later, I went to my brother's bedroom and picked one of his fancy black suits and a matching tie. My parents and my older brother were out that night. They said they couldn't " waste a lovely night  " to support me in my "doing nothing" plans, and I couldn't stop them either. Besides, I always welcome time alone. However, this night, I felt a sudden urge to dress for this occasion. After I made sure everything was set, I hurried to my destination. A sense of relief washed over me when I realized it was an outdoor event; 

I just had this thing against confined spaces.

Now this chunking down thing is really confusing! I don't know about you but a super long chapter doesn't sound like a good idea to me. If you think otherwise imma consider keeping them long as I wrote them. Thanks for reading ❤❤❤
