Sonya POV :

Parents love.

According to the unspoken law of the cool kids, you're a bit "meh" if you get along too well with your parents.

Well, I say cool is overrated.

I love my parents, and I don't hesitate to show that affection. Although they can be a bit too protective of me, they have always supported us, loved my sister and me equally, and provided us with the most loving and warm family conditions any child could dream of. They have often said that we were their lucky charms, since we brought them together again when their parents were so against their unison, and that has always warmed my heart.

When I came out as a lesbian last year, they gave me a big hug. Mom gave me a peek on my cheeks, and dad patted my shoulder and wished me good luck in finding a girlfriend, and that he would be happy as long as I was. I remember how they laughed at me when I began crying that day since I was worried about their reactions.

On the other hand, my sister paved the way for me to come out at school. It was her last year, so she told her friends, friends of friends that they were invited to a coming-out party at our place. Consequently, the following morning, the whole school was aware I was the gay gene in their straight chain.

' Cross the odd one out ' was on; as soon as the following morning to the party, I was kicked out of the school's mainstream people and became part of a community. One that I have become very close to. This little community was made up of  Delancey, my bisexual best friend, Frank, the gay nerd, and me, another gay .. and a nerd.

It didn't take me long to see how the outing was a blessing in disguise; without it, I wouldn't have made such great friends.

On the other hand, the decency I had with Becky Jones turned into complete hostility towards me. As soon as I came out, she made sure I was belittled, made fun of, and laughed at when anyone would speak about my coming out party; It was all thanks to her that I became a mama girl, a title I have stuck to till today. Proudly, to some extent.

- THE PRESENT MOMENT -

Becky is gay.

I have lost count of how many times I have said that to myself ever since I was magically snatched away from where the drama was taking place.

Because all I could think about when Becky was yelling and screaming at her ex-girlfriend, were the horrible things she did to me. I remember how things went more awry between us since my outing. I remember how she told other students to stay away from me, or, and I quote "I will contaminate them with my ' gay' germs", and how she sabotaged my locker with all kinds of insults. Fortunately for me, I had my friends by my side as strong support, and my sister, who has felt guilty about throwing that party when it has caused me so much grief. In response, I gave her a warm hug and I told her how happy and touched I was at that party.

-" Earth to you " a voice echoes from a distant, empty place.

I can't tell if it was real or part of my thinking until I hear it again.

-" Hey! Sonya! Snap out of it! " I turn my head in the direction of the voice, and my vision clears.

Delancey and Frank were staring at me with concern on their faces.

-" Are you okay mate? " Frank inquires, his eyebrow knitted in a hard frown.

-" Huh? " I let out, still in a daze.

-" I asked if you were okay. You look possessed " I almost jump when I feel someone's hand on my back.

-" What is wrong ? " Delancey asks in her soft tone, which I manage to hear despite the ear screeching noise.

Everything? I want to say. But I shut my mouth instead.

To avoid a very long chapter, I have divided it into 2 parts so m sorry if the ending was a bit messed up?
