Chapter 33: Course of Destiny

The next day...

Everyone is currently giving Ariyae a piece of their minds.

Veld: "You're lucky to be alive!"

Cale: "You made us worry until we were about to puke!"

Ariyae: "You've been saying this for the past hour. I did the only thing I could think of before we were turned into chop suey. Especially Makoh."

Makoh: "Y-Yeah, we were all exhausted and covered in sweat. Cut her a little slack."

Rox: "She nearly killed herself doing that!"

Veld: "(deep breath) She did it so that we wouldn't fall victim to the Second Page. It may have done too much to her, but it's also partially our fault for not seizing the moment right away."

Owen: "Plus, she saved me and Nyria last night while the rest of you were out like lights!"

The room goes silent...

Lariat: "No digging us out of that hole."

Owen: "She made up for it when it counted."

Rox: "Still nearly killed herself."

Ariyae: "(groaning) Can we just drop it and move on with our-"

A knock is heard on the door.

Rox: "It's open."

Nyria steps inside and closes the door.

Nyria: "What were you arguing about? I could hear it down the street."

Makoh: "How Ariyae nearly killed herself to save us."

Nyria and Ariyae lock gazes.

Nyria: "That takes as much courage as all of us used 3000 years ago."

Lariat: "Reminds me of the time Owen and I had to fight an army of rabid Flora alone."

Owen: "Yeah, I remember how that's when you were chosen by Bael too."

Nyria: "That's what helped me make my decision."

Veld: "So that means-"

Nyria: "I already talked with my boss. I'm ready to go."

They now know that the time is near for them to be reunited.

Owen: "Then we're heading out now! Who's number nine Cale?"

The light blue light is closest.

Cale: "Looks like Xaena."

Owen jumps into his seat and starts the engine.

Rox: "Now that's more like it!"

The engine begins to purr as Veld takes Nyria's hand.

Veld: "Glad to finally go to another fight with you."

Nyria: "The feeling is mutual, Veld."

They drive off, ready to find their ninth member, Xaena, filled with hope and the assistance of Nyria with each inch forward...
