Chapter Three

Ten years have passed since Cora, Lana and Pete were 9th grade students. Pete was a lawyer now, Cora a teacher and Lana a TV reporter. Pete and Lana were still a couple. Lana was a very beautiful, 25 year old blond with hazel brown eyes.  That night when Cora pushed Lana to call Pete, she swore to never let go of his side ever again and so it was. They were engaged and would marry in summer. 

Cora was now smoking weed since she started college and met Brat. A really handsome young man with stunning green eyes, blond wavy hair, tall, well trained body and always smiling. Cora with her long curly black hair, dark skin and blue eyes, loved him since he caught her eye.  With Brat the parties and clubs with Lilith stopped, the scotch disappeared and Cora was born again. All she needed was Brat and weed.

Lilith died a year before, after marrying Andrew. Lilith started taking drugs as Andrew was away often as he was a pilot. One night Lilith had an overdose, no one noticed and Andrew came home after a week. Poor Lilith her spirit didn't realize it has left her body. She was a ghost roaming around still believung to be alive. She used to break things in the house when Andrew came home to get his attention and shout at him but he wouldn't hear her. She went to the stairs and sobbed totally disappointed and left alone.

She watched Andrew leave the house and say nothing. Sometimes he looked back from the car as if he was longing for something. He thought, "Oh Lilith, my love what have I done to you? I'm sorry. I hope God forgives me".  Cora went to her funeral and even Lana, Pete, Pinkie, Annie and Fred. Pinkie and Fred were a couple now since two years. The inseparable friendship between the three 19 year olds wasn't the same anymore. Annie was single and secretly loved Fred. Fred and Pinkie haven't noticed.

Only Cora knew what Annie was going through. She has started studying Psychology and visited Cora and Brat on the weekends, who warmly welcomed her. Pinkie and Fred were studying Engineering. Pinkie was always telling Annie how distracted Fred was in the seminars and that if they wouldn't be studying together, he'd probably fail. Annie was disillusioned."Listen Pinkie, I got to go study with Mimi for an exam this week... Say hi to Fred! Let's make out together next weekend. See you." She picked her stuff, stood up and left without letting Pinkie say anything more.

Mimi became Annie's friend since she started college. They always hung out together. Pinkie and Mimi knew they existed but never exchanged a word. Except for when Annie once introduced them to each other. Mimi never understood how Annie was friends with Pinkie, and was surprised to know that they grew up together. They were so different from each other like day and night. 

Fred got her attention too but more a less in the same light as his girlfriend. According to her it was the perfect couple. Mimi was 21 years old. She was indecisive after finishing school and that phase lasted for two years. The two years of age difference between her and Annie was never noticed and it seemed like they have always known each other. She knew that Annie was in love with Fred although Annie denied it and pretended as if he didn't know he existed sometimes.  Annie once took Mimi with her to visit Brat and Cora. Ever since then Mimi was madly in love with  Brat.

Annie just reached the library and saw Mimi waiting for her. They gave each other two kisses on the cheeks and opened their books.

"What took you so long, beautiful?"Mimi asked. 

"Pinkie"Annie said and breathed out.

"Was Fred with her?"-Mimi asked eagerly. 

"No."Annie answered, almost sounding sad.

"Strange, aren't they always together?"Mimi asked surprised. 

"I don't know, we've all been a trio as far as I can remember. Later they became one and I was there and more apart then integrated." Annie said as she looked down.
