                            Chapter Sixteen

Pete and Jason have now been a couple since two weeks. Pete was happier than he had ever been before.  Lana absolutely didn’t matter to him anymore and he forgot all that has happened among him and her all those years. It seemed as though Jason was the one that he has always been waiting for. He told his mother and all his friends about it. Mrs. West called Lana’s mobile, she saw “Pete’s Mum calling” on the display and picked up the call, shivering.

-“Hello Mrs. West” –Lana answered.

-“Don’t pretend to be nice Lana.”-Mrs. West shouted.

-“What’s wrong?”-Lana asked annoyed.

-“You still ask me what’s wrong? You dam bitch. Tell me what you have done to my son.”-Mrs. West shouted.

-“Mrs. West, thank god I didn’t become your daughter in law. By the way, it was Pete who broke up with me and I have no idea why call me and shout at me.”-Lana said in an innocent tone.

-“No girl, that’s not it. Why is my son now gay?”-Mrs. West shouted into the phone.

-“Now I have no idea why and how he became gay. Yuck.”-Lana answered disgusted.

-“You like that people think you are innocent. Doesn’t work on me, so pretending you twisted bitch.”- Mrs. West shouted.

-“Well I don’t care what you are saying. Please don’t be mean to Pete’s new partner. Oh I forgot it’s a guy, so not a stupid girl.”-Lana said almost laughing. 

-“You still think it’s funny?”-Mrs. West shouted.

-“No it’s disgusting but everyone gets what they deserve, bitch.”-Lana answered.

-“Now you show your true face.”-Mrs. West said relieved.

-“Why be nice to someone who hates me anyhow?”-Lana asked.  

Mrs. West cut the call. 

Esmeralda told Annie that they won’t be spending time together for a day, as she had issues to solve. Esmeralda convinced Fred to meet her in the woods. She wanted to find out if what Viktor told her about Cora’s death had been true.  “Esmeralda, right? What do you want from me and why did you want to meet me here?”-Fred asked kind of confused, he sensed that Esmeralda’s nature was just Tess’.  “Fred, you are so stubborn but something tells me that you are not cold hearted and want to help your girlfriend.”-Esmeralda answered softly. “Ok, don’t tell me you want to know how Cora died? That subject really sucks and I still have nightmares of it.”-Fred stated.  “I know you were the witness of it and I’m after Mimi maybe that interests you.”-Esmeralda said smiling.  “I don’t want to talk about with someone who has idea about it and I don’t care why you are after Mimi.”-Fred said annoyed trying to leave but Esmeralda paralyzed his legs.  “As said I believe there is good in you and I know that you don’t like seeing Cora’s boyfriend with the witch.”-Esmeralda stated with a fierce look.  “I know what you are and something like you killed her, a witch taking care of Brat doesn’t bother me.”-Fred stated.

“Why do I not believe your words?”-Esmeralda asked showing him her fangs.  “You want answers so my girlfriend loves you and believes that you are the only she can count on. I can’t except that because I love her and her place is with me. You can’t just show up and be the perfect friend. Things don’t work that way.”-Fred shouted at Esmeralda. “Oh now I realize why you pretend not to care, you are so egoistic. “-Esmeralda shouted back.  “I’m not egoistic; I just don’t like things like you around her.”-Fred said grinning. Esmeralda lost temper; she dragged Fred to a tree and tied him to it with a rope. “Now my friend, its funny how you say “things like you”. Have you forgotten to say the word “vampire”? Is it that horrible? You know I had once been human too and although I’m a living dead I’m still a person and have feelings and emotions like humans do. So please show more respect dear.”-Esmeralda said wit emphasis on every single word.  “Ok ok, you are right I hate Mimi but I don’t think she has planned such a bloody incident.”-Fred said in a scared tone.  “Ok, I will tell Annie what I am and how Cora died.”-Esmeralda said in satisfied voice.  “Is that all or why am I still tied up?”-Fred asked pissed. “Well, you need to introduce Brat to me.”-Esmeralda demanded.  “I won’t do that, my ex girlfriend and Mimi are not to mess with.”-Fred stated.  Esmeralda didn’t like that hearing that, so she cut a wound into Fred’s arm with a knife. Blood was running out of it. Esmeralda licked the blood. “Hmm, tasty, I hope you don’t mind if I drink some of it.”-Esmeralda stated passing her tongue over her lips. “Noo!”-Fred screamed. “Then, you will do as I say?”-Esmeralda asked raising an eyebrow.  “Yes but please don’t hurt anyone, except maybe Mimi.”-Fred pleaded.  Esmeralda quickly untied him. “Now, go!”-She roared. 

Esmeralda sensed that someone was watching her, she turned around and saw Viktor’s ghost. “Oh did I scare you?”-Viktor noticed her surprised look.  “No.”-Esmeralda stated angry. “Why did you torture Fred here?”-Viktor asked. “You mean I shouldn’t have done that?”-Esmeralda asked back surprised. “No, I mean you could have gone to my cellar near to here and used several torture instruments. It would have been more fun to look at.”-Viktor said disappointed. “Ok Viktor, next time I torture someone. I will keep that in mind.”-Esmeralda said grinning. “It was one more advantage; it’s safer than the woods. No one will hear or see you.”-Viktor explained. “Alright.”-Esmeralda sighed.

Fred came home with a bandage on his arm. Annie was shocked to see the bandage on her boyfriend’s arm. “Oh god, what happened to you dear?”-She asked with a pale face.  “Nothing!”-Fred answered. “Doesn’t look like nothing.”-Annie stated.  “I fell and put a bandage on the wound.”-Fred lied.  “Where have you been?”-Annie asked.  “At work.”-Fred lied. “You weren’t there. I asked Pete. You didn’t go there this morning.”-Annie said disappointing because Fred was lying to her.  “Sorry, I lied to you, Annie; I have been to the psychologist and haven’t informed anyone yet.  It’s just that ashamed of it and don’t want everyone to know that I have nightmares.”-Fred stated. That was also a lie, he was in the woods. “Lana called after puking.”-Annie said changing the subject. “Is pregnant or what?”-Fred asked annoyed. “No, Mrs. West made her responsible for Pete having become gay and dating Jason.”-Annie answered laughing.  “Wow, never expected that of Pete. The world is really starting to become crazy. By the way, do you think we should introduce Brat to your new friend?”-Fred commented.  “Introduce Brat to Esmeralda? Why?”-Annie asked confused.  “Nothing I just thought that they might be getting along well.”-Fred stated.  “You hardly know Esmeralda, and Brat seems to be happy with Mimi.”-Annie said confused. “Ok, ok.”-Fred said disinterested and switched on the TV.
