Chapter Nine
The sunrays were kissing the faces of Mimi, Cora, Lana, Pinkie, Annie, Fred, Brat Pete and Andrew. Since they had left Christmas dinner they stayed on the beach and slept in the sand listening to the waves. Lana and Pete had cuddled up together, just like Andrew and Cora did. Pinkie and Annie cuddled with Fred. Brat and Mimi lay beside each other but weren’t cuddling. Fred had his eyes wide open and seemed to be searching for someone but he didn’t want to move as he didn’t want to wake the girls. Andrews’s snores were loud and interrupted the melody of the waves.
Annie stretched herself and slowly starting opening her eyes, when she saw Pinkie’s face on also on Fred’s chest, she became fully awake and slapped him. “Ouch, what’s wrong with you, honey?”-He screamed waking all up. “Tell what she got to do beside you Fred.”-Annie snapped. “We didn’t do anything and you shouldn’t complain too much Annie because I and your beloved Fred have been having a relationship until I got dumped thanks to you.”-Pinkie cut in pissed. “Sorry, I didn’t know it is so hard for you.”-Annie said calmly. “Spare me. What kind off friend are you? You have always claimed all for yourself and pretended to be innocent. I didn’t know you would deprive me of my boyfriend.”-Pinkie cursed. “Who is being selfish? You knew about my feelings but instead you chose to flirt and made him yours and who came wearing a towel to me last night, in need of a party outfit?”-Annie yelled.
“Bravo Annie, you still claim to be innocent. I know why you broke up with Billie; you couldn’t tell him in the face that you want my boyfriend and instead wrote him a letter, saying you needed to start a new life. If only he saw you now, so mean. You didn’t care if he suffered or not. You are such a bitch.”-Pinkie yelled back. “Right I’m only your best friend if you need a favor. Now I’m a bitch huh? What about you, tell me what have been doing when you snuck out at night and visited Andrew so much? I’ve never asked you because I believed that there was trust between us.”-Annie defended herself. “Who told you that rubbish that I sneak out at nights?”-Pinkie enquired calmly. “It was Fred and I don’t think he was lying.”-Annie stated. “You call yourself a best friend after replacing me in college. My private life doesn’t concern you since you don’t care anymore if I’m hurt or not.”-Pinkie cried. “I’m sorry Pinkie, I didn’t mean it.”-Annie said softly. “Yes, you did mean it. Now shut up and leave me alone.”-Pinkie roared. Mimi started laughing sarcastically. “I don’t think anyone here finds that was funny, Mimi.”- Lana snapped at her. “You really don’t understand humor. Right, Lana.”-Mimi mocked. “Oh shut up.”-Lana said annoyed. “If I understood correctly then Annie and Fred are together now.”-Cora intervened. “You listened correctly Cora.”-Fred answered. “Hey, does anyone know why all slept on the beach and what happened after we came here?”-Andrew asked. “No idea.”-all answered together. Pinkie walked to the water and Andrew followed her. “Pinkie, you sounded to be really upset.”-he tried consoling her. “So what Andrew, they won’t care anyway.”-She said smiling at him. “Hmm, ok.”-Andrew said surprised. “There is something you need to know.”-She said impatient. “And that is?”-He asked. “I’ve been seeing Lilith’s ghost, that’s why I’ve been visiting you so often.”-She stated. He hasn’t expected this and fell into grieve again.
Mimi was sitting on a rock and Brat followed her. “Why have you come here? Except Annie, no one seems to like your presence.”-Brat said. “Darling, I don’t care if my presence is welcomed. I came because I knew you would be here.”-Mimi said charmingly and smiling. “No offence, you have character and are beautiful but I’m already in love and she is my one and only.”-Brat answered not looking at her into the eyes. “That’s so sad Brat because I believe that you deserve more than a stoned teacher whose friends are still from her childhood days.”-Mimi said charmingly and disappointed. “I’m happy with her and nothing about her bothers me.”-Brat said convinced. “You’ll soon see and feel things differently.”-she stated. “Please don’t do that. I know who you are since your cousin asked me to watch you.”-Brat said alert. “Then I also guess that you know what will happen if I tell Viktor that you denied the favor. I can be very convincing you know.”-She said grinning evilly but still keeping her flirty look on. “Unfortunately, yes.”-He answered. “Good, so keep away from Cora if you want your mother to stay alive and I will tell Viktor that you have been fulfilling my wishes.”-She said firmly. “But you do know that you cannot force people in certain things.”-He mocked. “No I don’t because there is always a way.”-She answered. “Whatever!”-He said disinterested and went looking for Fred. He saw him in a cave near the road with a wine bottle in his hand. “The wine is not going to help with the girls, Fred.”-Brat said to him in a joking manner. “I know that Brat but what am I supposed to do.”-Fred answered taking a sip. “I have a problem, I can’t talk with Cora and Mimi is threatening me.”-Brat complained and took a sip from Fred’s wine. Fred told him about what Tess has told him about her expectations, stating that seems like she’ll always get what she wants.
