Chapter Two

Months have passed and it was winter now. Pete was still in a wheel chair because his spine still had to heal. Lana was hanging out more with her friend Cora. They went to school together since 1st grade but Lana hated Cora to the core. They became friends in 5th grade, on a day where Lana fought with her best friend and was later teased by the rowdy boys, she sat alone crying when school was already over and all had gone home. Cora saw her and went t site beside her silently and then put her arm around her.

"Lana, are you crying because of the fight with Lilith or did those rowdies make you cry? Don't cry, I'm sure Lilith will apologize to you tomorrow."Cora gently said.

"What are you doing here?"-Lana sobbed, if she wouldn't have been crying she must have been annoyed to see Cora.

"Nothing just saw you here and wanted to be nice to you."Cora said with a smile on her face.

"If I go home my mum will want to know what happened and talk to parents and teachers. That'll be embarrassing."Lana said, now grinning.

"You can come with me to my house and I can tell my dad to call your mum up and tell her that you are alright."Cora offered. "Ok."Lana accepted.

Lilith was Lana's friend since kindergarten and they've always been best buddies but she's always been selfish and often mean. Lana used to get influenced by her but was actually a soft character and never really realized it until Cora consoled her on that sad day of hers.

Cora seemed to be immune to people being mean, she never reacted when she was bullied. She was always nice no matter what to everyone. That was what annoyed Lana the most when they weren't friends yet.  Since the day she had a fight with Lilith, she loved Cora like a sister and knew it will always last. Lilith and Lana apologized to each other a week after the fight in 5th grade but then for no reason both didn't hang out together anymore and stopped talking just like that. Cora and Lana were inseparable friends since then.

"Poor Cora"Lana sometimes thought because Cora's mother died giving birth and she lived alone with her Dad. Cora's Dad didn't want to marry again nor was he having girlfriends or showing any interest in women, he was still grieving for his dead wife and mother of his beautiful daughter who started reminding him more and more of her day by day as she was growing up.

Cora slept over at Lana's house so much that she started to almost live there. Lana's mother Scarlet had pity on her daughter's friend and treated her like her own child. Cora felt the same and after a year of knowing Lana, she started to call Scarlet "Mum".

Lana's sister Pinkie also accepted Cora as a family member. She was not such a weirdo as her sister and she used to tell Annie sometimes, "I wish Cora was my sister." Annie answered"I think Cora already feels like you are her little sister."

Cora and Lana haven't been hanging out together since almost two years. The almost 16 year olds have only been sitting side by side in class since Lana stated dating boys in 7th grade.  Lana and Pete started dating in 8th grade. Now the girls were in 9th grade and Pete as well.

At recess Cora lit a cigarette and Lana watched her shocked"Since when do you smoke, dear"- she asked.

"I don't know, probably when my dad started ignoring me, it feels like I share the house with a ghost. But as expected you wouldn't notice, you spent so much time with Pete that I became air even for you." Cora answered gazing at the sky.

"I'm sorry." Lana said.

"What for? It's not like anyone cares."Cora said disillusioned.

"Hey, you know that's not true. You can come to my house anytime. Mum would be really happy to see you and Pinkie too."Lana said a bit angry.
