                       Chapter Five

It was the last day of college before the Christmas holidays began for two weeks. Annie and Fred lay in bed.  The alarm clock rang and Annie stopped it but didn't get up to get ready and go to class as usual. She laid her head on Fred's chest listening to his heart beat. Fred was awake; he kissed her on her forehead and then didn't move a muscle.  Then he looked at the time of his wrist watch, which he had laid beside the bed the night before. It showed 8:35 am. He stroked through his girl's beautiful reddish brown long hair. "Shouldn't you be in your course now"He whispered. "Yeah, but I don't want to."she said letting out a yarn.

He smiled and hugged her.  It seemed to be a wonderful morning and it felt to both like this twosome moment was going to last forever. The peace didn't stay with them, a few hours later they heard that someone knocked on the door.  Annie rolled her blanket around her and went towards the door; she opened it and saw Mimi in front of her who seemed to be very disappointed. She realized that Annie was still in bed and just got up. 

"How come you were still in bed at eleven o'clock in the morning?"Mimi asked in angry tone.  "I don't know, just didn't want to get up, Mimi. What brings you here?"Annie replied still sleepy and rubbing her eyes. "I was worried. We always met in front of the hall at 8:15 every morning and you have never been missing."Mimi stated. "So? I mean it's obvious that when I'm with Fred, things are different."Annie said apologetically.  "That's ok Annie but tell me about changes, you need to be careful. Danger lurks on campus and near you."Mimi said with insistance and concern. "Thanks Mimi but I can take care of myself and Fred is also there. " Annie said.  "Silly you, Fred can't protect from everything thing and everyone."Mimi said grinning fiercely. "What do you mean? Are you going to start with the freaky stuff that Pinkie heard from Tess?"Annie enquired. "Whatever that so called 'freak'  has told your dear Pinkie and Fred is absolutely true but it's so like you not to believe it."Mimi said sternly. The tone revealed that Mimi was pissed. "What does that mean? I didn't know Fred has talked with Tess nor did I ever say so to you?"Annie replied, surprised. "Let's say all comes to my ears and my eyes see whatever matters."Mimi said in an amusing tone.Though Annie didn't think it was funny at all. 

  "Yes, right whatever common plans you have with 'The Freak' to make us  go mad, for I don't know what reason. It's time to drop it 'cause it's not funny and Pinkie is paranoid."-Annie said annoyed and disgusted. "Annie, believe me even I wish that Tess would keep her little mouth shut but I cannot do anything against it, unless Pinkie wins her trust and becomes her pet cause then she will be weakened. Your friend is not paranoid, she believes to have nightmares but the truth is those aren't torturous dreams, it's the reality that happens to her each and every night. The Freak feels guilty of her own nature, a punishment she got for attempted suicide. I should maybe search for Viktor and convince him to keep an eye on her and play his charm."Mimi said in a pensively.  "I don't get a thing about what you just said. But one question, who is Viktor?"Annie asked as she let out another yarn. 

"Viktor  is my distant cousin who is always on the run and feared by the whole Collins' family, except for me. He and Tess are blood linked on my wish."Mimi said proudly. "Why do I feel that you didn't just come by to look for me and tell me sick fantasies and ignorance towards The Freak?"Annie asked, clearly bothered. "Because you are right.  Pack your things, I'll pick you up this evening and we will drive 200 km to stay at your mum's and look after Andrew, you will tell Cora to come down too with Brat. Now don't tell me snow on the beach will ruin the holidays. Pinkie and Fred can of course come too but they'll have to catch up on their own. One more thing, you'll have to show me around at that place and never leave my side until we drive back. Is that clear?"Mimi said in a very friendly manner but it seemed unnatural.
