(Long chapter)
Levy P.O.V
"I'm certain this is the right house," I muttered, as I stepped in front of a large building. It had golden gates and large windows. Anxiously, I pressed the door bell and waited silently.
I shivered in my school skirt and blouse, the wind blowing gently. Suddenly, the golden gates opened and I was able to climb up the front steps. I was about to Knock when the door swung open and a girl in a maid dress smiled at me.
"Hello," she said warmly. "I'm Virgo, the personal maid of Miss Lucy Heartfillia- she's currently in school right now, so I think it may be best to come back late-"
"Actually, I'm not here to see Lucy," I interrupted. "Please may I speak to Jude Heartfillia?"
The maid looked startled. "You want to talk to the Master!" she gasped. She looked unsure but then smiled at me with trust. "Come in, I'm sure he'll accept any friend from Lucy."
I walked into the house to be enchanted by its gold walls and silver staircase. Virgo showed me into the front room where I took a seat on plush cushions, then she bowed then to me and went to go get Lucy's dad. I waited patiently as I scanned the room- pictures of a little girl in the arms of a blonde haired woman were framed around the room.
Moments later the door opened again and a blonde haired man with a moustache walked into the room and smiled at me. Instantly, I saw the look alike of Lucy but it wasn't much.
"You must be the famous Levy Lucy's been talking about," he said in a deep voice. "I'm curious to why you've come and want to know more about you. But before that, let me introduce myself."
"My name is Mr Jude Heartfillia and the owner of the Heartfillia company, its a pleasure to meet you Miss Levy."
I didn't know whether to bow down like he was royalty or thank him. There was no need to introduce myself because he already knew my name so I decided to get straight to the point.
"Thanks for inviting me into your house," I said quickly. "But I shouldn't stay long, I just came for a quick chat-"
The door opened again and Virgo walked in with two cups of tea and placed it on the table. I thanked her and sipped from my cup, it was sweet but tasty all the same.
"Like the tea? Its one of our special secret recipes," Jude said. Then suddenly he sneezed.
"Tissue!"
A box of tissues appeared on the table and Jude Heartfillia stared; nevertheless., he still took a piece of tissue and blew his nose. Then he tilted his head to look at me in pure confusion. This was my chance.
"Everybody in Fairytail Academy has some sort of magical abilities now," I said. "At first, we were all scared but we learnt to adapt and use our magic like it was a part of us."
Jude listened carefully.
"But I want to learn more, more about our magic and why its affecting us. I wondered why only the students who attended Fairytail Academy had magical abilities... that was when we found a secret tunnel in the library," I continued. "the funny thing is, the secret room belonged to you and we found something that once belonged to Lucy's mother."
Jude sighed. "I thought that someone would have found it eventually," he muttered. "I didn't know it would be found by my own daughter and her best friend... I had sworn to keep it a secret from her."
"But why did you hide something so big from her?" I pursued. "Where did all this magic come from?"
"Magic is an ancient thing back in the days, but when dragons invaded the town, most of the magical population was wiped out," he explained. "Only a few remained."
He waved his hand in front of him and a screen appeared showing dragons burning down houses with fire and people running for their lives.
"Thats terrible..." I breathed.
"when me and my wife had Lucy, I was so happy. But shortly after, she got sick and eventually passed away. I was devastated, but Lucy was only young," he continued. "so I didn't give her the key that her mother wanted to give her until she was old enough. But when she was of age... it was too late."
"Most of the magic had already vanished, and Lucy grew up forgetting about the magical world, eventually, the magic began to slowly disappear but every time a new baby was born, a small amount of magic would be transferred to their bodies from their parents," Jude explained. "The magic was so weak, that only 25% of the magic activated."
"But what has Fairytail academy got to do with any of this?" I asked.
Jude sighed again. "When Layla Heartfillia died, he magic got inherited to Lucy, but some of that magic didn't make it, so I made 4 dragon crystals to store in the magic. At first, it was fine, but then it started to suck up other magical energy too until I had no choice but to destroy them."
"Fairytail Academy used to be a guild hall back then, so I hid the empty dragon crystals in the guild... I think... I think the dragon crystals are connected to Fairytail Academy like it was to the guild hall. it still sustains to magical energy that was used years ago, so maybe... something happened to them."
My eyes widened. "Do you have any idea where they are now?"
Jude shook his head. "Alas, I do not, but only know that the they are located in the academy."
I nodded. I sipped the last of my tea then got up. "Thank you so much for your time," I bowed. Virgo showed me out and I thanked her for the tea.
As I walked down the sidewalk, I realised that school was already over, but I walked to in front of the gates and waited for Lucy. I felt someone tap me on the shoulder, I spun round to see Gajeel looking down at me.
"You weren't at school," he grunted at me.
"How do you know?" I muttered.
"I have eyes, don't I?" he said. "What did you get up to? Find anything?"
I looked away from his steel eyes. "I'm not sure yet," I said. Then glanced around. "where's Lucy?"
He shrugged. "Probably with Natsu. I don't get that kid, he breaks up with Lisanna then flirts with Lucy almost immediately."
I blinked at him. "Natsu likes Lucy?" I asked him, as if I was surprised.
"Well duh," he said. "It makes sense, why else would they be spending so much time together? "
I thought about it. Natsu and Lucy? I could always ask Lucy about it, but I don't think she'd tell me the truth.
"I don't know," I muttered. "what about Gray and Juvia, I heard their item now."
Gajeel hesitated. "I don't think so, Gray tells me Juvia kissed him first..."
I said nothing, then turned away. "I should get going," I muttered. "I'll see you at school tomorrow."
I turn to go when Gajeel clutched my shirt. I froze.
"Levy, I-" he started. I felt my heart thud violently in my chest. But then Gajeel released his grip. "Nothing."
My eyes widened as I brought my hands to my chest. I took a deep breath and blinked back my tears. "Gajeel I-"
I spun around but Gajeel was gone.
Lucy P.O.V
I ran out of the school buildings, panting in exhaustion. I saw Levy staring blankly at thin air and I called out to her.
"Levy-chan!"
Her eyes flickered. I ran up to her but then immediately froze. Two tears escaped Levy's eyelids. She turned towards me, tears brimming and muttered.
"Lucy," she said. "What is love?"
