Always be My Baby

Few years ago when I was younger, my mother asked me to cook for lunch because she’ll attend an urgent meeting and she’ll be back for lunch. My answer to her was a hasty “YES” thinking that by answering positively she would go ahead immediately and then I could proceed to play DOTA.

As the ticks of the clock were rushing for lunch, I on the contrary was indulging the game sluggishly as if playing is forever. Minutes later, I heard the sound of the gate opening then I realized I was asked to cook for lunch. I looked at the clock and astonishingly I saw that it was already 12:13 (that’s why I was hungry that time). My mom then entered the house with excitement, “Let’s eat! I’m so hungry. What have you prepared?” I went pale and answered, “I haven’t cook yet Mom.” Disappointed, she got the belt in the dressing room and spanked the hell out of me. End of the story.

Our gospel for today stresses the virtue of sincerity not only in speech but also in work. Unlike the story, Jesus doesn’t spanks but rather He let us reap what we sow. An example to that is, if we do not cook, then we’ll be hungry and if that hunger remains for a long time then we will be sick and probably die.

Well, the possibility of dying is too far. Why? Because Jesus is love himself, and all he does for us is its perfection. All we need is to do our part for He’s the strongest rock we could ever built our homes.

Jesus Our Father, make our homes a place of holy work. Amen.
