Redirect Me

Once upon a time, there was a single father who supported his family. The man's main source of income was mailing letters to people just enough to support his family. Then one day, the management decided to fire more than half of their mailmen due to a large deficit caused by the dawn of high technology. Unfortunately,    the man was also fired. Having received the bad news, his world shattered. He walked through the road crying and kicked every dirt until he saw a lottery ticket dated that day. He picked it up and later that night he won 100 million.

Oftentimes, we want assurance in all that we do. We want things to fall into what we planned it to be. We want riches, fame, and love. But what if accidents spoil the things we aspire for? Shall we let our circumstances take hold of us? Or worst, we imprison ourselves with the haunting things of "should haves", "would haves", and "could haves."

In today's gospel, we see Jesus heal the blind man; and peculiarly before healing the blind man, Jesus said this, "He was born blind so that God's power might be shown in him."  Also, we can see Jesus redirecting the life of the blind man. Thus, we can reflect on the sufferings that we are currently having right now.  It might be addictions, financial crises, and the like but the thing is, Jesus is ever willing to redirect us from what we are experiencing right now to a path where the power of God is concretely felt.
