Ch. 10 A ball.

(Echo pov)
I woke up and turned over. I bury my face in Asher's chest and he hugs me in his sleep. I smile a little and then Asher wakes up with a yawn. He ran his hand through my hair and kissed my head. "Echo baby it's time to get up and get ready." Asher said and kissed my head. "Ok." I said. Asher chuckles and we get up. I went to the bath room and got a shower. I got dressed. "Asher when does the ball start?" I ask. "In two hours and my mom, Amelia wants to do your make up." Asher said. "Ok." I said. I exited the bathroom and Asher hugs me. I hug back and Asher kissed my head. Then there's a knock at the door. Asher and I let go of each other. "Come in." Asher said. Amelia came in and smiled at me. I give her a small smile and she looks at Asher. "Asher your father wants to see you. You two are getting ready." Amelia said. Asher rolled his eyes. "Ok I'll be back. Just be easy on Echo." Asher said. "Oh I won't bother her. I will just do her make up." Amelia said. "Ok." Asher said. "Have fun." Asher said. He kissed my cheek and left. "Do I need to get dressed first?" I ask shyly. "Yes please get dressed." Amelia said. I grab the dress and went to the bathroom. I got dressed and came out. Amelia gasp. "Do I look that bad?" I ask. "No darling you look breath taking. Where did Asher get that dress?" She asked. "I kind a designed it and he got the royal dress maker to make it." I said shyly. "You made that. Can I see the drawing?" Amelia asked. "I'm not sure what Asher did with the drawing." I said. "Ok let's do your make up." Amelia said and made me sit down. She did my make up and did my hair. Then Asher comes in and his mouth falls open when he sees me. He looks in awe. I feel the blood rush to my cheeks. "You. Look." He stopped like he didn't know how to describe me. "I'll go so you two can finish up and Asher." Amelia said. "Hm?" Asher asked still looking at me. "Get it together. You're going to scare the life out of the poor girl." Amelia said and whacked Asher up side the head. Asher rubs his head where she hit him. Then she left. Asher shook his head and came over to me. He raps his arms me and I lean on him. "Sorry. You just look so good I can't find the right words for it." Asher said. "It's ok." I said and smiled a little. Then he pulled out the necklace he got me and put it around my neck. Then he grabbed the black ribbon and tied my hair in a loose point tail. "Ready to go?" Asher asked. "Not at all." I said. Asher chuckles and takes my hand. He kissed my cheek. "Don't worry baby I will protect you." Asher said and hooks his arm with mine. "Ok." I said and we left. We went to the ball room and walked in. "When will you show me off? As you put it." I said. "You'll see. In a little bit. Once the first dance is ready to happen. For now I want to hang out with my friends." Asher said. "Are we telling every one what I am?" I ask. "No. Defiantly not. My friends hate wolf shifters. If we tell them what you are that will put you in major danger." Asher said. "Ok." I said a little scared. "Oh sorry baby. I didn't mean to scare you. Don't worry baby I won't let them hurt you." Asher said. I calm my self and lean on him. "Ok." I said. I look behind me and see Duke. "Well he likes you." Asher said. "I don't blame him." Asher said. I chuckle. "Let's get this over with." I said. "Alright come on." Asher said. We went to a group of kids my age. "Hey Asher." One said. "Hey guys." Asher said. Then they notice me and I smile slightly. "Guys this is my girl friend Echo." Asher said. "It's nice to meet you Echo. I'm Darrell." One said. "I'm Sarah." Another said. "I'm Clair." Another said. "And I'm Josh." That last one said. "It's nice to meet you." I said shyly. "Where did you get that dress?" Clair asked. "Actually she designed it." Asher cut in. I felt the warmth rush to my cheeks. "Really?" Sarah asked. "Yeah. What did you do with the drawing?" I ask Asher. "It's some where on my desk. Why?" Asher asked. "Your mom wants to see it." I said. Then they go into easy conversation. Then I glance to my left and see Duke. "Asher looks like you have competition." Josh said and we look at Duke. Duke snuggles with me. "She's mine." Asher said. Duke barks. "What ever." Asher said. "Asher I don't think you have any thing to worry about." I said. " I better not." Asher said. I chuckle. They fall back into conversation and I took a deep breath. "You good?" Asher asks. "Yeah." I said. But I did smell were wolf and I know Duke is a werewolf. But I didn't smell him. Suddenly Duke starts to growl a little and got protective of me. He circled me and growled. "What is he doing?" Clair asks. "He seems to be protecting Echo." Sarah said. "But why?" I ask inching towards Asher. "Beats me." Josh said. Duke whimpers. "Maybe we should put him in his room." Asher said. "No Asher let him roam. I can smell another werewolf and it's not Duke." I whisper in his ear. "Alright." Asher said. "Duke only gets like this when he smells danger. I guess he doesn't like the smell of some one here." Asher said. "And if he's not happy I shouldn't be either." Asher said as he raps his arm around me and pulls me to him. Duke continues to protect me as they talk. Then Barren whispers some thing in Asher's ear. "Alright. Come on Echo." Asher said and pulled me over to a small room. Then Barren got up in front of every one. "Now we do have to dance. Just follow my lead." Asher whispers to me. I nod and get really nervous. Then Barren announces that Asher and I are dating. Then a spot light come soon over us and I smile really nervous. Asher leads me to the middle of the room and we get in position. The music starts and we start to dance. I let Asher lead and we waltz. "How does this work?" I ask. He chuckles. "Just follow my lead." He whispered. I nod and then he spends me and bends me over. "What was that?" I ask. "It's called a dip." Asher said as he spins me again and we went back to waltzing. Well it was mostly Asher because I got dizzy. Asher chuckles. I shake my head and got the dizzieness to go away. Asher chuckles again. "Are you ok?" Asher asked. "Yeah. Just got a little dizzy." I said. After a few seconds of us dancing others joined in. Once the song was done, every one clapped and Asher pulled me back to his group of friends. They talk for a while and Duke got protective of me again. "Seriously what is it that he doesn't like?" Asher asked. "Is Chloe here?" I ask. Asher nods. "He may not like her. I mean doesn't he know how much you hate her?" I ask. "Fair." Asher said. Then Chloe comes over and Asher tightens his grip on me. "So this is your girl friend?" Chloe asked. "Yeah so if you have a problem take it up with me and leave Echo a lone." Asher growls. Chloe steps back and look me up and down. She grab my chin. "You think you can take my man from me then you have another thing coming." Chloe growls in my face. I pull out of her grip and she gasp. "You little brat. Asher it's amazing how you can't see how much better I am than her." Chloe said. Duke growls and Chloe growls at me. "Chloe you better leave before I get really mad and do some thing you won't like." Asher growled. "What? Hurt Echo? I would love that." Chloe said. "I would never." Asher growls. Chloe turned on her heal and left. Duke snuggles with my legs. "Echo are you ok?" Asher asked. "I'm ok. Are you ok?" I ask. "Yeah. She better learn to leave you a lone." Asher said. "Asher Chloe doesn't give up that easily." Sarah said. "I know. But I wish she would." Asher said. Asher rapped his arm around my waist and I lean on him. They talk for a while. Then I feel a hand on my shoulder and Asher and I look over to see a smiling Chloe. She smiles sweetly at Asher and pushed me back. I almost fell but Darrell cought me and he steadies me. "Hi Asher baby." Chloe said sweetly. Then Asher paled and put his hand to his stomach. "Asher are you ok?" I ask. "Yeah just feel sick to my stomach." He said. "Any ways Asher I think we would make the purrfect couple. Dump the mutt and come with me." Chloe said. Now I feel sick to my stomach. "No thank you." Asher said and gave her a pointed look. Chloe growls and turns  to me. "You won't get away with this." She growled and slapped my cheek. I turn my head at the impact and Darrell put me behind him. He growled and so does every one else. Chloe seems mad. "Why are you dating a wolf shifter?" Chloe asked Asher. The group gasp and I step back as they look at me. I look down and nod. "Echo." Asher growls. I gasp and step back again. I become petrified with terror as soon as I see how angry he is. I lower my head in submission and whimper. "Go to our room and stay there. Take Duke with you." Asher growls. I nod and turn. Duke follows me to Asher's room and I open the door. I let Duke in and I close the door. I got ready for bed. I sit on the bed and Duke sits next to me. I curl into a ball and rest my chin on my knees. Duke nuzzles my cheek and I pet him. He lays his head down and I stroke his fur. He curl into a ball around me and I pet him for a while. I have never seen Asher so mad in the whole time I've been here. He really scared me. We sit like this for a while. Then Asher comes in and I shake with fear. He sighs. "Duke go to bed." Asher said. Duke left and Asher closed the door. Asher came over and sat beside me. "I'm so sorry Echo I never should have blown like that." Asher said. I nod and he kissed my hair. "Are you mad?" I ask. He makes me lean on him. "Not at you. I'm mad at Chloe. I could never be mad at you baby." Asher said. I nod and he hugs me. "Can you forgive me?" Asher asks. I nod. He signed and sat behind me. He pulled me to him and I lean on him. "Why won't you talk to me baby?" Asher asked. "I'm sorry. You just scared me back there. I've never seen you that mad before." I said. "Oh I'm sorry baby. I didn't mean to scare you. I was mad that Chloe slapped you." Asher said. "Asher? What do the others think about me?" I ask. "They don't care. I reminded them that I'm dating you so they don't care about that. They just want to get to know you." Asher said. I nod and he pulled the blanket on me. He rubbed my arm and I fell a sleep.
