Ch. 25 An afternoon with Chase.

(Echo pov)
We got out side and Chase sat down by a tree. "Shift." He said softly and I shift to human. "How does it feel?" Chase asked as he set his hand on my belly. "Fine." I said. "Ok." He said. He grabs my waist and puts me in his lap. "Is this ok?" He asked. "I don't care. But will Asher?" I ask as his friends come over with their pets. "Nah. Asher won't care. As long as I'm not doing some thing you don't like then he won't care." Chase said. I nod as his friends sit down in a circle. "Why is she here again?" One asked. I lower my head in submission and whimper a little. "Because she needs to move from person to person. She needs to be safe. Besides she is your future queen." Chase said. I tense. "What?" One asked. "I uh just still haven't fully grasped that concept." I said. "What ever." Another said. Chase sent them all a warning looks. They sigh. "Echo may I ask you a question?" One asked and I nod. "Why did you save Chloe's life?" He asked. All the pets started to growl and all their masters sent them warning looks. "Um because the attack was my fault. My old friend Luke wants me dead. But right before the knife was launched, I smelt human or more specifically Luke." I said. "What?!" Chase asked. "Asher knows Asher knows." I said quickly in fear of getting hurt. He calms down and rubs my back. "Sorry Echo you just surprised me." He said. I nod and calm down. "Wow we really miss judged you." One said. "Yeah." Chase said. "Can you forgive us?" Another asked. I nod but the pets glare at me. I shrink into Chase. "Oh right I told Asher I would feed you and I will every day." Chase said as he looks for his apple. "Oh man I forgot the apple." Chase said. "Here I have one." One of Chase's friends said. He tossed the apple and I caught it. "Are you sure?" I ask. "I never eat the apple any ways." He said. "Ok." I said. They talk while I eat the apple. I took a bite. "So Chloe has been going around telling people her rumors were fake and Echo is actually a nice girl." One said and I choke on my bite. "What?" I ask once it was down. I'm so shocked. "Chloe the girl you saved really likes you." He said. "Are we talking about the same Chloe?" I ask. They chuckle. "What other Chloe is there?" He asked. I stayed silent. "Ok." I said still shocked. "What?" One asked. "Chloe has always hates me. Because and I quote, I took her chance with Asher away unquote." I said. "When did she say that?" Chase asked. "When she wanted me to convince Asher to dump me and date her." I said. "Well news slash she never had a chance with Asher." Chase said. I nod. "Yeah I know." I said. "How?" Chase asked. "By the way he turned me down every time I said dump me and go out with Chloe." I said. They chuckle a little. I notice some of the pets still glaring at me. "Hey you ok?" Asher mind linked with me. "Yeah I'm fine." I mind link back. "Is it just me or where like all the pets in the school glaring or growling at Echo?" Chase asked. "I saw that to." One of his friends said. "Yeah I noticed." I said. "Why would they do that?" Another asked. "They might just be mad that I saved Chloe." I said shyly. "Why?" Chase asked. "Most pets depending on the vampire that owns them usually are treated pretty bad. So most humans hate vampires." I said shyly. "No offence." I added quickly. "Non taken. Some vampire are terrible to humans and wolf shifters any way." One said. "What did you think to how Asher treats you?" One asked. "Not what I expected." I said. "What did you expect?" Chase asked. "Honestly I expected to be treated like a piece of dirt or some thing." I said. "You mean like how most vampires treat their pets?" One asked. I nod a little. "Yeah." I said shyly. They talk for a while and I look at the pets. They are still glaring at me. I sigh and look at the woods. I guess the pets will never like me. Oh well Asher likes me, his family likes me, my pack, my brother and Chase's friends seem to like me. So I think I'm ok. Besides Asher will protect me. Then Asher walks over. "Hey I'm leaving early. Can Echo stay with you?" Asher asked. "Sure." Chase said. "Echo do you mind?" Asher asked. "No I don't mind." I said. "Why are you leaving early?" I ask. "I have some stuff to do and some stuff I need to plan. But I think you'll like it." He said. He sent me a smile and left. "He's skipping school for me?" I ask. "Of course!" They all say in unison. "Why?" I ask. "Who wouldn't?" One asked. "What?" I ask. "Even Chloe would ditch school to hang out with her pet. If she had a pet." Chase said. "Do you all hate school that much?" I ask. "Yes!" They all say in unison. "Ok." I said. "How does?" Chase asked as he set his hand on my belly. "Fine Chase." I said. Then he set his hand on my back. "Thats fine to Chase. Geez you worry to much." I said. "What?" One of his friends ask. "Yesterday she got Chloe out of the way. But the knife hit her back and she went to the hospital. Then this morning according to Asher when they woke up Echo had a message cut into her stomach. That said she will be mine." Chase said and rubbed my back. Chase looked at his watch. "Oh you better shift." Chase said. I slide out of his lap and shift to wolf. I lay down and wait. Chase has my leash in his hand. They talk and then a bell rings and they get up. I get up with Chase and I follow him to his class. He sat down and I sit next to him. "Just sit there." He said. I nod. We went through his class and went to his next one. Which is gym. He took me to the bleachers. "Stay." He said sternly. I lay down and he went to join his class. They play basketball for a while. When they take a break they came over to the bleachers for their drinks. Chase took a long drink of blood as do the others. Then they sit there and talk. "So Chase why do you have a wolf shifter?" One asked. "It's Echo the one that saved Chloe the other day. She belongs to Asher but he wanted me to watch her for the rest of the day. So he could do some stuff." Chase said. They nod and talk for a while. Then the coach calls them back for more. But I stay routed to the spot. They play the rest of the time and then they came back over. They do the same thing. "So is Echo obedient?" One asked and I tense. "Yes. But." Chase's voice trailed off as he took another drink. "But?" One asked. "She doesn't need to be." Chase finished. "What?" One asked. "She's Asher's girl friend. She's the future queen. Why would she be obedient to me?" Chase asked. "Because she's nothing." One said sternly. Chase growls. "Careful. She is the future queen and Asher is dating her. He doesn't just date any girl. He is very picky." Chase said as he takes another drink. "So what? She can't do any thing to me." He shot back. "But Asher could and so could I." Chase said. "Why would you protect her?" He asked. "Because Jason she is like a sister to me and besides I own her my life." Chase said. They laugh a little and Chase rolls his eyes. "Yeah she saved my life so what?" Chase asked. "How?" One asked. "A knife came flying at me. But she sensed it before me and pushed me out of the way." Chase said. "Echo shift." Chase said. I shift to human. "Yes ma?" I start but he puts his hand on my mouth. "Call me master one more time and you'll walk home." He said. I become scared. But I nod and he took his hand off my mouth. "Sorry Echo I didn't mean to scare you. You know I would never do that. I just don't like it when you call me master." Chase whispers in my ear. "I'll try to remember." I said. They talk for a few minutes and then Felipe comes in. He comes to Chase and me. "Ready?" He asked. "Yeah let's go." Chase said. "Is it time to go home?" I ask. "Yep let's go." Chase said. We went to the car and we three got in the front. Chase pulled me into his lap and took off the collar. He makes me lean on him and rest his hand on my belly. We drive home and we get out. "So do I stay with you two?" I ask. "Yep come here." Chase said. He picks me up and balanced me on his hip. I rap my arms around his neck. He chuckles. He makes me lean on him and they went to their room. "Why are you carrying me?" I ask. "Easiest way to keep you safe." Chase said. They went to their room and Chase gently layed me down on the bed. He sat beside me. "Are you sure you're ok with me staying here?" I ask. "Of course." Chase said. "It is for your safety." Felipe said as he gets in bed and pulls the covers on us. He pulls me to him and cuddles with me. I eventually fell a sleep.
