Ch. 40 The trappers.

(Echo pov)
I woke up in Asher's lap and he is still a sleep. I kiss his cheek and go to get up. But he holds me down and I see a smirk on his face. "Asher please let me up." I said. "No. You aren't leaving my side." He said and made me lean back. "But I'm hungry." I pout. Which is true. He sighs and we get up. We went to the kitchen and I made breakfast for us two. Then we sit at the island in the kitchen and eat. "So do you want to visit your pack today? I think Aztec is going." Asher said. "Ok. Yes please." I said. "Be careful. I'm going to try it with out the collar so be careful." Asher said. "Alright. Where is Aztec?" I ask. "That's a good question." Asher said. I chuckle. "Alright. I'll find him." I said as we finish our breakfast and I take up dishes. I do the dishes and put them up. "You know the servants will do that later right?" Asher asked as he rests his chin on his hand. "Why let some one else do it later when I can do it now? Besides the servants need a break ever once in a while." I said. He smirks. "Come on we aren't that demanding." Asher said. "You and your family might not be but others are." I said. "Are you going to counter every thing I say?" Asher asked. "Yeah." I said. "Why?" He asked. "Because I like to help and you of all people should know that." I said. "You're right." He said. I finish the dishes. "Alright let's go track down your brother." Asher said and we left. We find my brother and Duke playing in the garden. I smile a little. It feels good to have every thing back to normal. Then Chase and a girl come in. But they don't see us. "So Chase who is this?" Asher asked. They jump and look at us. "This is my girl friend Emily." Chase said. "She's human." Asher said. "So? Vampire girls aren't my type." Chase said. "Are you copying me?" Asher said. "No!" Chase said. "Yes you are and I think it's cute." Asher said. "Does my big brother want to be like me?" Asher teased. "Quite!" Chase yelled and threw a rock. Asher ducked and ran when Chase threw more. Then Chase ran after him. I roll my eyes. "Hi I'm Echo." I said to Chase's girl friend. "Hi I'm Emily." She said. "Nice to meet you. Want to hang out until the boys come back?" I ask. "Assuming they come back." She said. We laugh. "You're right. They probably forgot all about us in their fight for dominance." I said and we laugh. We sit on the ground and talk as the dogs play. "So you're not vampire are you?" She asked. "No I'm a wolf shifter. I won't hurt you I promise." I said. "I know. I mean you could hurt if you wanted to but you have been to nice to me." She said. I smile. "So are you the Echo Chase talks about so much?" She asked. "Possibly. Depends on what he said." I said. "He said you saved his life." Emily said. "Yeah that's me. But I promise I'm not any competition." I said as the warmth rushed to my cheeks. She sighs with relief. "Sorry but he talks about you so much that I thought he likes you." She said. "Well according to him he and Felipe like me as a sister. But I'm taken. I'm Asher's girl friend." I said. "So what's it like living here?" She asked. "Well as a girl friend really this is the only true home I've ever had. Asher and his family are really nice. They help protect me from this guy Luke who has been after me for a while. But he only got me once and that ruined my life for two months." I said. "What happened?" Emily asked. "If I tell you, you have to know they won't do this to you. It was just a misunderstanding. Well Luke had kidnapped me and right before Asher came to get me, he kissed me. I only went with him because he threatened to severely punish me if I didn't and then Asher came in. But didn't know Luke had threatened me and was blind by anger. So he wouldn't listen to me and he beat and drank from me for two months until some how he figured out what Luke had said then every thing went back to normal." I said. "Wow. He did that?" Emily asked. "Yeah but I'm sure Chase wouldn't do that to you. Because one no one is after you and two he was one of the reasons Asher found out." I said. She nods and we talk about Asher and his family. Then we hear laughter coming down the hall and we turn around. We see Asher running from Chase and I tackle Emily out of the way. We went rolling and laughing. We stop rolling but kept laughing and the boys come over. They sit beside us and we sit up. "You couldn't have warned us?" I ask. "No." Chase said. We grab pillows off the bench we were by and attack him with them. They laugh. Then Asher tackles me to the ground and tickles me. I laugh and screech for him to stop. Then Chase did the same to Emily. They stop and we tackle them. We attack them with pillows. Asher laughs and so does Chase. When we stop we sit down on their stomachs. Chase and Asher are right beside each other facing the same way. Me and Emily fist bump and the boys put their hands under their heads. "That was fun." Chase said. "Yeah. But next time warn us before you come barreling down the hall." I said. "Where's the fun in that?" Asher asked and I hit him in the face with the pillow. Chase laughs and Asher pulls the pillow of his face. He pouts. "What?" I ask. "That hurt. Can I get a get well kiss?" He asked. "Absolutely." I said. "Not." I add and Chase busted out laughing. "You have spent to much time with my brothers." Asher said. "I'm pretty sure I get that from you." I said. "What ever." Asher said. Then Aztec and Duke come over. "We want to go to out side pwease." Aztec said. "What do they want?" Asher asked. "They want to go out side." I said. "Do you want to take them and go for a run?" Asher asked. "Sure. I'll be back later." I said as I got up. I walk out side and the dogs follow. We get to the woods and I shift. "Where to?" I mind link with them. "The pack." Aztec mind links with me. We ran to the pack and shift to human. "Echo I would like to talk with you for a minute." Alpha Black said. I went over and we talk for a while. Then we heat trappers coming. "SHIFT AND RUN!" Alpha Black yells and we shift. We ran. My brother comes to my side and then I'm hit with a sleep dart. My brother stops but Alpha Black kept going. I'm not mad though. He has others to protect. I whimper when trappers surround us. They hit Aztec with a sleep dart and we fell into a deep sleep. Beside each other.
(Duke pov)
I saw Aztec and Echo get cought. I want to do some thing but I can't. Once they were in cages, the trappers left and I ran back to the castle. I found Asher and went to him. I start whimpering and trying to get him to follow me. "Hey boy, where's Echo?" He asked. I hit at his pants leg and he follows me to his room. I close the door and shift to human. "The trappers got Echo and Aztec." I said quickly. "I wanted to help but there was nothing I could do with out being cought myself." I said. "Ok. I will find her and Aztec. For now you are to a to stay in the castle where you're safe." He said sternly. I nod and shift. We went to dinner and Asher sat down. I lay down beside him and whimper. "What's wrong?" Felipe asked. "Echo was take by the trappers and Aztec to." Asher said. "How do you know?" Chase asked. "Duke told me." Asher said. I whimper again. I went to my bed and layed down. I fell a sleep after a few minutes.
(Echo pov)
I woke up in a cage and I look around. I see all my old cage mates around me and Aztec to. "Are you ok?" Aztec asked in wolf. I nod and try to get up but I fall down in pain from my foot. Then the pet master comes in with bandages. The others move an he comes to me. I whimper. "Hey hey easy I won't hurt you." He said. He bandaged my foot and injected me with a shot. I whimper and he left. Aztec came to me. "How will we get back?" I whimper. "I don't know." Aztec said in wolf. "What's the out side world like?" One of my cage mates asked. "Well it's different." I said. "How? The good different? Or bad different?" Another asked. "For me it was the good. But it with probably be bad different for a regular pet." I said. Then the pet master left food. As he left food, he saw the collar on Aztec's neck. "Come here boy." He said and Aztec went to him. He reads his collar. "Oops." He said. He got a leash and clipped it on to Aztec's collar. Aztec whimpered and sat beside me. The pet master sighed and picked Aztec up. He carried him out. I wish I had a collar on. The other asked questions about my experience and I answer them. Then I told them that I saved Chase's life and they growl. One attacks me and hits me in the face with his claws. I howl in pain and the pet master came in. He saw them ready to attack me and opened the cage. He picked me up and to me to a solo cage. Which I'm thankful for and set me on a pillow bed. He closed and locked the cage. Then he brought Aztec and put him in. "I'll take you back to prince Asher later." Pet master said. Aztec came to me and we cuddle. After a few minutes I fell into an uneasy sleep.
