"Your lungs are looking good," Julie removed the stethoscope from around her neck. "Are you having any issues?"
"No, none at all."
"Take a deep breath for me." Julie placed it on my back.
I inhaled. Held it. And exhaled.
"Sounds good too," Julie smiled and placed the stethoscope on the table. "You're all good to go. Barb's around here somewhere."
I give Julie a hug. "Thank you."
...
I took the elevator up to the C-Wing and kept a close eye out for Barb. I walk down the hallway, until something immediately caught my eye. It was the sign that Will had hanging up the last time he was at the hospital. ABANDON ALL HOPE YE WHO ENTER HERE.
Was Will here? No way, he was transferred months ago. I shrug and make my way to the NICU, Barb had to be there.
I push open the door and freeze.
My heart pounds in my chest.
His back was turned to me, eyes on the glass NICU window.
I let the door close behind me. He looks over his shoulder, and his eyes widen.
He looks the same. The same chocolate hair, the same piercing eyes.
He flashes me a charming smile. "Miss me?"
