chap 17- attempt to murder

There was a strange quiteness in sanskar's heart the next morning. He did not have the appetite for breakfast. Though due to ap's force he got ready to come back to house at night, sleep was not in his eyes.
Ap: beta... i know you are concerned for her. But if you dont take care of youselves how will you take care of her?
Sanskar: ma... how can someone be so cruel to her? Her so called parents... i once did scold her for them. She didn't have anyone...
Ap: but she has you... she has my sanskar. I am sure you will make her forget everything and give her a lot of happiness.
Sanskar nodded.

@ hospital
Swara was sitting staring at the wall when sanskar opened the door. He came near swara and caressed her hair.
Swara: are... sir .. you came
A smile appeared on her face looking at him.
Sanskar: yess... i am back..
He looked at the cut on swara's forehead due to yesterday's assault.
Sanskar: you ok na?
Swara knew what sanskar mean!
Swara: now i am ok... aap aa gaye na...
Sanskar hugged swara tightly.
Sanskar: noone... noone can treat you the way they have treated...
Swara: they took advantage of my weakness. They would have forcefully took me to the mansion and forcefully would have taken my signature on papers. I know them well.
Sanskar thought swara would break down after this but her voice was strong. He looked astonishingly at swara.
Swara: are... what did you think... i ll break?
She laughed a little..
Swara: i knew they will do this. May be i would have.. but when i saw you standing between him and me... i knew nothing's gonna happen to me...
Swara looked directly in his eyes. Her gaze caused a warmth in sanskar's heart. He let out a sigh.
Sanskar: i ll always be there for you....

DAYS PASSED LIKE THIS. SANSKAR'S CARE, RAGINI'S CHIRPINESS, LAKSH'S IRRITATING DEEDS WERE MAKING SWARA FINE. HER BODY WAS RECOVERING. HER LIPS WERE SMILING. HER EYES WERE GLITTERING. BUT THE LAST DAY.....

Today swara was getting discharged. She was sitting on the bed in a light pink kurta with white plazzo pants. She was alone in the room. Suddenly a nurse came.
Swara: yes..
Nurse: mam.. this is last injection.. sanskar sir has asked to give it to you.
Swara complied. She gave her hand to nurse and within no time swara was feeling dizzy. She tried to look at nurse but all blank.

Sanskar entered the room. He saw swara lying comfortably on bed with her eyes closed. He came near her.
Sanskar: swara... wake up... we have to go home.
Ragini laksh ap dp sujata rp everybody entered.
Ap: chlo ji... it's good swara will stay with us. And those fellows... rp ji have you converted the papers on swara's name?
Rp: yes ap ji... bas.. ab swara theek ho jaye... i want to see her happy.
Sanskar smiled at him. He again caressed swara's hair.
Sanskar: wake up swara... we have to go home.
But there wasn't any reply. Ragini came forward and touched her forehead. It was cold.
Ragini: her forehead is cold....
Sanskar touched her forehead. Lines of tension were clearly visible on his face. He took her wrist and tried to find pulse. It was there... but very feeble. Her hand slipped from his hand. He looked at swara. His mind was blank.
Ap: beta.... beta what happened?
Sanskar was too scared to say anything. He took swara's face in his hands.
Sanskar: no.... swara open your eyes... i said open your eyes right now....
Laksh held him tightly. Dp came forward and checked her. Her blood pressure had again fallen down. The alarm of emergency rang in the hospital. All the doctors rushed towards her room.

Ap: beta... sanskar .... lets get outside...
Sanskar was not able to balance himself. The fear of losing her swara again was overpowering his conscious.

Sanskar: ma... willl... she.... i... cant..
He was not even able to speak what he wanted. Just a few moments back he was happy. But now ...

Dp came outside of the room. Sanskar jumped towards him.
Sanskar: papa... swara...
Dp hugged him tightly. He patted his hair lightly.
Dp: calm down... calm down... she is fine... calm down...
Hearing the word she is fine brought sanskar back to normal. He tried to catch his breath. Tears ran down his eyes.

Dp who was still hugging sanskar patted his hair.
Dp: beta... your love is very strong. Trust me... you are a doctor yourself... you knew the symptoms. You knew every sign...
He looked at sanskar.
Dp: she was almost gone... but your love brought her back.
Sanskar looked at dp. Dp nodded.
Ap: but how...
Dp: i have sent the reports... i have sent the query for cctv footage too. But only the cctv of swara's room is not working.
Laksh: it sounds fishy...
Dp: let the blood report come. Ragini ... beta you be continuously with her.
Ragini nodded.

Sanskar felt as if his heart had started beating again. He broke the hug.
Sanskar: how... how is she papa?
Dp: she is completely fine. Bas wait for two three hours more. Then we ll take her home.
Sanskar nodded.

Suddenly nurse came outside running.
Nurse: sir see...
She had an empty syringe in her hand.
Nurse: sir.. this was found near swara mam's bed. Sir whenever this hospital staff give injection we never throw syringe casuAlly.
Sanskar took the syringe in his hand. He looked at the few drops of medicine still there. His forehead had a frown.
Sanskar: who gave this drug to swara...
Laksh: oh god... this was an attempt to kill her.
Dp: this is poison. Someone attempted to....
Sanskar's eyes became red with anger. Someone had tried to kill his love. How can he tolerate this.

Sanskar entered swara's room. She was still unconscious. Sanskar looked at her face which was looking completely exhausted. He slowly lifted the sleeve of her kurta. There were marks of injection. He caressed her hair. The fear of losing her was enough to make his eyes wet. He felt a hand on his shoulder. It was laksh.
Laksh: bhaiya... dont worry.. she will be fine.
Sanskar kept his head on laksh's shoulder while keeping his gaze over swara.
Sanskar: laksh... how on earth can anyone try to murder such a pure soul!
Laksh: dont think about this. When she ll wake up she ll need you. Just be strong.
Sanskar nodded and wiped a tear away from his eye.

It was one hour since that mishap. Everyone was sitting outside the room. A nurse came outside.
Nurse: she has got conscious.
Everyone came running inside the room. Sujata came near her and caressed her hair. She had almost lost her daughter that day. Tears escaped from her eyes.
Swara slowly opened her eyes. She was feeling completely exhausted. Every part of her body was aching. Her head was spinning.
Swara: aunty... what happened to me?
In reply sujata just wiped her tear. Unable to understand swara shifted her gaze towards ap. Her eyes were tensed too. She looked at ragini who was holding lsksh's hand tightly.
Ragini: nothing swara... you just take rest. We ll go home soon.
Swara understood there was something fishy.
Swara: i know... i know there is something.
Dp came forward and caressed her hair.
Dp: yes beta.. there is something. Can you recall what happened just before your eyes closed?
Swara: a nurse came and gave me some injection. I dont remember anything after that.
Dp nodded.
Dp: beta... someone tried to harm you. It was an attempt to murder.
Swara's eyes widened. Her head spinned fast.
Ap: but you are safe with us bachha. Dont worry n dont stress. We ll be going home today.
Swara nodded. She was feeling extremely weak to keep her eyes open. But her gaze was trying to find sanskar. As if ap understood her wish, she spoke.
Ap: we should let her take rest.
Everyone understood. They went away one by one. Then in a corner swara's exhausted eyes saw sanskar trying hard to control his tears. He came near her.
Sanskar: swara....
This was all he could say. His eyes brimmed. Swara understood everything. She held his palm and touched it with her lips. Sanskar's heart was melting inside him yet he was trying hard to control his tears.
Swara: were you afraid?
Sanskar: i had almost died....
Sanskar engulfed swara in a tight hug. She felt him shaking. His silent cries were audible to swara's heart. She felt her pillow wetting by his tears.
Swara: dont cry... see i am fine...
Swara's eyes were on the verge of closing. Her body started to loose. Sanskar felt that. He broke the hug and looked at her. She smiled through her weakness.
Sanskar: take rest.
Swara nodded and closed her eyes. Her face tilted towards one side. Sanskar kissed her forehead. He held her hand softly. There were still bandages on her wrist. Her forearm was swollen due to continuous iv drips. Her face was pale with lots of dark circles around her eyes. Continuous assaults had exhausted her completely.
Sanskar slided a flick of hair away from her face.
Sanskar: noone can separate you and me. You have filled my life with light again swara. You have become the light of my life. You are the tune of my empty heart. You are everything swara.
A drop of tear escaped from his eyes.
