It was a lot later at school and the day is getting close to done.
Everyone was in Cory's class which was History and waiting for their marks.
This would of course determine 50% of their marks for the year and just about everyone was nerves.
Maya was just messing around with a pencil and looks up.
On the board stood what have the entire morning.
Marks.
She didn't know what it meant but knew it meant something.
Since Maya started Middle School from Grade 5 Cory was her teacher.
She always learned a lot and now she has to get used to a lot of stuff.
Example she has to hope she gets a few good grades this year.
Her mother didn't actually pay attention to Maya but she knew that it wasn't very much a matter of time before she does.
Cory clears his throat and everyone looks up.

"Okay class. I received your essays on The Mockingbird. Some of you actually surprised me," Cory said.

He went through every student and put their paper down on their desk.
Maya takes a look at hers and raises her eyebrows
She can't be seeing right.
Cory goes to sit down and Maya raises her hand.

"Yes Miss Hart?" Cory said.
"Are these correct?" Maya asked.
"They are," Cory said.

"Everything okay?" Riley asked.
"He gave me an A," Maya said.
"WHAT!" Riley said and everyone heard what Maya said.
"Sorry Mr Matthews. But how is that possible? She's Maya," Farkle said.
"Like a real A?" Lucas asked.
"80/100," Maya said.
"Correct. That's an A," Smackle said.
"Dad are you sure it's correct? I mean. She is Maya," Riley said.
"It is. A wise man once said if you work hard enough you can accomplish anything. Well done Maya. You did good," Cory said.
"Thank you Mr Matthews," Maya said.
