Fifteen

Chapter 7

Maya got home and saw her mother was home.
She was at the dining table busy to pull her together.
She was in tears and in a state.
Maya got a big fright since she doesn't see her mother like that a lot.

"Mom? What's going on? Are you okay?" Maya asked.

She put her backpack on the couch and sat down next to her mother.

"Darling we're in trouble. Your father... Your father wants to take you," Katy said and Maya's heart stood still.

The last time she saw her father was when she was five.
It wasn't a good experience but she knew one thing for sure.
It may never repeat.

"He can't do that," Maya said and Katy gave Maya the letter which she read.
"Or maybe he can. How can he just appear after ten years saying he wants me? He can't do that. You can't allow that," Maya said.

Tears were now streaming against her cheek and she wasn't as calm as she was when she stepped into the apartment.
She remembered something which happened long ago and knew she wasn't getting over it soon.
Maya stands up from the table and runs to her room.
She has no idea what to say or to do.
Her dad...
Her dad which left her ten years ago wants to take her away.
And she knows he'll get it right.
Her mother doesn't have the money to fight in a court and she knows her dad will want that.
