Chapter 16

Maya was still sitting next to Josh as she waited for the others to react.
Shawn and Cory's faces changed to anger and Maya was a bit afraid of what she saw.
She exhaled as Riley figured out what is going on.

"You knew what was going on. You knew and kept quiet," Riley said.
"Riley relax. I was emotional when I told him and he probably wasn't sure what to do. It's not his fault. He gave me time to process it," Maya said.
"Then I can help your mother fight in court," Topanga said and Maya shook her head.
"We already were in court on Monday. He won. He got full custody and we're just waiting for him to say when I have to go to him. He hasn't given my mother an answer yet," Maya said.
"I'm so sorry Maya," Josh said.
"It's okay. He does only stay in Washington Square so I'll still be able to come here with times, I just don't know how often," Maya said.
"How far does he stay from here?" Cory asked.
"1.6 miles. It really isn't that far and the court did discuss the fact that I have to stay in Abigail Adams for the whole year of high school," Maya said.
"So all that is different is you won't see your mother?" Shawn asked.
"What difference does it make? I anyway don't see her. I will be able to see her as much as I can. The court make sure that I could," Maya said.
"I can't believe you told him and not me," Riley said and Maya sigh.

"Riles he was there. You weren't. How was I supposed to tell you if you didn't ask what is wrong? It was definitely not on purpose. I received the news and then I got sick where I didn't go to school for a week. It wasn't my fault," Maya said.
"I still can't believe you did that," Riley said.

Maya stood up from where she was sitting but immediately felt dizzy.
She almost fainted and then Josh caught her.

"You okay?" Josh asked.
"Yeah just dizzy," Maya said.
"I think you should rather go home. We'll talk tomorrow," Riley said.
"Yeah. I also think that might be better," Maya said.
"I'll walk you home," Josh said and they were gone.
