Fifteen

Chapter 13

It was later the afternoon and Auggie was also at home.
Maya was keeping him busy while Topanga is busy with the food.
She has felt pretty bad today and it wasn't a good day.
She did take a few hour nap and was feeling a bit better.

"Auggie why don't you go play in your room? I want to discuss something with Maya," Topanga said.
"What's wrong?" Maya asked as she sat up.
"Why do you let your mother do this? Tell her you aren't feeling good. Finish and done."
"She's my mother. I don't know. I... I'm so tired of being pushed into a corner," Maya said rubbing her eyes.

She sighs as she takes a breathe.
She doesn't want to go through the same thing each day.
Wondering what is going to happen and all that.
What is going to happen with her father?
Will she still be with her mother?
How is it all going to turn out?

What she doesn't understand is why everyone is acting like she is okay.
Don't they know about her father?
Did Josh even tell them then?
Maybe he didn't.
How on earth is she going to know that?

"Has my uncle contacted you yet?" Riley asked making Maya look at her.

It was late the evening and Maya was just crashing at their place.
She didn't want to face the apartment just yet and she knows that.
But she doesn't actually know what else to do.

"About what?" Maya asked.
"Nothing," Riley said making Maya frown.

She looks at her phone which rang and immediately saw it was her mother.

"Mom. Everything okay?" Maya asked as she jumped up.
"No it isn't. Your father won the case," Katy said.
"Whatever. I don't even care anymore. I'm better off with him. When is he getting me?" Maya asked.

Riley couldn't believe Maya was talking like that to her mother not knowing about who either.
Neither could Katy.
Maya kept the rest of the conversation short knowing Riley is listening.
She said goodbye to her mother and threw her phone on Riley's bed.

"I need a distraction. What about a show?" Maya asked.
"Yeah sure," Riley said and put her computer on.
