Fifteen

Chapter 9

It was two-thirty.
Riley has heard nothing from Maya and knows something isn't right.
But she isn't answering her phone calls.
She knows that Maya isn't good when she ignores everyone.
But instead of going to her she decides on something else.

J: Yes Riley? Another scolding session?
R: I'm going to sen you Maya's address. Go and see what's going on. She wasn't at school and is ignoring me.
J: Okay send it then I'll go have a look.
R: Thanks.

After Josh received the text he drove to the address to find it's an building not too far from his brother.

Josh's pov

It was a simple building.
I didn't know what to expect but I did know that it wasn't going to be fun.
If Maya wasn't answering Riley's calls and didn't go to school itgs bad enough.
But what can it be?

Maya's pov

After Mom had left I spend most of the time just figuring out what to do.
I was busy reading a book when tears streamed down my face.
I wiped them away and sigh.
I know it's going tk be hard to continue a life with Dad.

Before Maya could think further she heard a knock at the door.
She didn't make a noise.
She knew who it was.

"Maya I know you're there," Josh said and Maya was surprised at the voice.

She stood up and opened the door.

"Josh what are you doing here?" Maya asked.
"Came to pull you straight. Why weren't you at school?" Josh asked.
"My mom said I didn't have to go," Maya said and sat down.

She sat with her back to Josh so she doesn't have to face him but he saw the tears.
Plus her eyes were bloodshot red.
He couldn't miss that.
They weren't blue like they were.
They were red and he knew something was wrong.
He sat down next to Maya and looked at her.

"What's wrong?" Josh asked.
"My life," Maya said.
"Maya," Josh said and Maya bursted into tears.

Josh moved closer and pulled her to his chest.
Immediately she sobbed and wasn't stopping.
She just couldn't anymore.
She had to keep a front for her mom and now she was breaking down.

"It's okay Maya," Josh said trying to calm her down.
"Shh. It's okay," Josh said while rubbing Maya's back.
"My dad... My dad wants to... take me... away," Maya said through her tears.
"It's okay," Josh said holding her even tighter than he did.

He heard what she had said and wasn't going to mention it again.
She wasn't exactly very stable right now and he knew it.
She had to come to terms with everything going on before he spoke with her about it.
But one thing he knew.
Riley wasn't going to fidn out about it.
He doesn't know what he is going to do but something that he is going to lie about.
He can't tell anyone what he had just heard.
He knew that for a fact.
