It's Monday, 4 January 2016.
Maya is turning fifteen in twelve days and nobody knows what to do.
Especially Riley.
She thought she'll know what to do but for some reason she doesn't.
Riley has known Maya since she was five and now ten years later she's given up with trying to understand what Maya went through as a child.
It must have been bad but she doesn't fish anymore.

Maya Hart wakes up and quickly gets dressed.
She is a freshmen in high school and started in September.
She is half way and then it's just Sophomore, Junior and Senior.

But for some people the year just doesn't go by fast enough.
Of course I'm talking about Joshua Matthews.
Josh just didn't want the year to start all over.
He wanted to finish school and start college at his brother's.
Josh lives in Philadelphia and he has known Maya for two years.
The two teenagers haven't gotten much to do with each other but what Maya does know is that she likes Josh.
And Josh has really recently developed feelings for Maya.
She just doesn't know it yet.
And he doesn't know if he could ever tell her the truth about it.

But it is a lot more complicated to tell someone broken you like her.
Maya has always been broken and even though Josh doesn't see her like that quite a lot of people do.
It was like that since her father left and she isn't healed yet.
But maybe she just needs a little help.
She has never got the attention she needed and that has always been a problem with her mom.
Katy never have the time to give attention to Maya and let's her do just what she wants while Maya needs a bit more stability in her life.

After Maya got dressed she took her backpack and headed to her best friend's.
Maya have known Riley since she can tell as well as her parents.
She has become very close to all the Matthews and she knows that she won't ever have to tell that her life is a disaster.
It is kinda.
But not entirely.

"Hi Matthews," Maya said.
"Hi. Listen we need to go to school early today," Riley said.

Maya smiled as she knew that her best friend was hiding something.
But she didn't reveal much.
And she didn't want to fish.

"I'm not even going to ask. How late?" Maya asks.
"Let's say ten minutes."
"But please eat first," Topanga said.
"I will," Riley said.
"Maya you too. We don't want a repeat of last year," Topanga said.

Maya developed anorexia when she was just fourteen years old which was very young and because her mother doesn't give her the attention she desires she doesn't have any help.
Besides from the Matthews.

"I'm not really hungry," Maya said.
"I'll make you a smoothie then. You have to eat," Topanga said.
"Guys you can't help me. Surely you have to realise that," Maya said.
"Well since we do raise you we can help," Cory said.

Topanga threw a banana, strawberries, blueberries, yoghurt, ice, a bit of water and a drop of vanilla in a blender and blended it up.
She gave it to Maya and she drank it.
She was a little uncomfortable with what Cory said.
That they are raising her which was true but it did hurt a bit.
She never thought of it like her History teacher raising her.
But it was true.
She doesn't even have a mother anymore.
Not since that day with her father.
