Taking a deep breath, I turned slowly keeping my breathing as shallow as I can make it. Keeping in mind not to show my terror, my dad always thought me that no matter what life throws at you always have a plan. He said that if someone ever comes in this house and I am alone that I should grab one of my mother's knives and hold onto that thing for dear life while I call the police. So I walk into kitchen, still breathing slowly but I know that my heart is beating so fast it's like the motor in it is in overdrive. I walk around the island towards the knives. Reaching for the wooden knife rack, I wrap my hand around the top knife. I can feel the cold plastic under my palm and the hardness of the metal on tip of my index finger. I pull the knife out and turn to face the way of door. It was still empty. I touch my pockets on either side with my left hand to find my phone. Dammit! The phone in my bag and my bag is still in Sebastian's room. I'm alone. No phone. Just me. Yes I know what I should be thinking, use the house phone but we don't have one, never have. Holding the knife towards the door I take a deep breath, feeling the air go in and out my lungs.
"Whoever you are, get out my house!" I yelled.
There was no answer so I walk slowly towards the door again, peering around the wall, the beautiful wooden and brown hall was empty but the door was open again. I let out a sigh of relief and lower my arm feeling the knife tap my thigh. Taking another breath I turn around only have my breathing stop from what's in front of me. Leaning with his back on the island was the shadow figure. By the posture and muscles it was definitely a man. He was wearing a black hoody that was zipped up to his chin and with the cap on so you can't see his face. He had on black cargo pants with black boots covered in mud. He was wet which meant he came in while it was raining. Taking a firmer grip on the knife, I open my mouth.
"Who are you? What do you want?"
I didn't think he would answer but when he did his voice was rough but soft like he can be scary and be kind at the same time.
"Who I am does not matter but why I'm here does. You threaten my master's plan and I'm here to make sure you are dealt with?"
"Who is your master? What plan?"
Everything he said was just making me want to ask more and more questions. Who was he? Why was he here? And he is going to tell me?
"They told me you would ask questions but he said you would be a piece of cake!"
"Who are you talking about? If you think I would let you near me, you are wrong."
He started laughing, it was a deep laugh. Confused by the laugh I didn't pay attention. Before I knew it he grabbed me and shoved me against the bage wall of the stair case. His arm was closing my wind pipe making it harder to breathe. Even though he was just in front of me I could still not see his face only a little chin which showed a little brown stubble. Pushing me up against the hard wall I felt all my strength go away and the knife fell to the floor with a hard clang. Trying with every ounce of power I had left I reached for his arm trying to pull it away from me. No use. He was too strong for me. I could feel the life drain from my body and I was wishing that Eric was still here. That he would save me but I sent him home. At least I got my first and last kiss tonight. Looking at him I saw him pull the knife I let fall to the floor and aim it at my heart. NO! NO! I am not going down like this. Taking grip on his left arm that was against my throat. Using my left leg I swing forward feeling my knee connect with his man parts. That would teach you a lesson. The grip against my throat loosened enough for me to catch my breath again. But there wasn't enough time to live in the glory. I reach to left and grabbed my mother antique lamp that was on the stairs side desk. The lamp was grey with a bage top. I smashed the lamp into the strangers head, sending him with a grunt to the floor. The fragments of the lamp fell to the floor along with the man. On my feet again, I ran to the door, threw it fully open and ran outside into the rain.
