Sabrina's POV

The morning after my date with Alex went swell. Elton was the only one who asked me how it went and wasn't looking forward to digging deeper into the matter when I answered: 'it was fun, but it's not gonna work out.', and I really appreciate that. Colby looked like he was walking on egg shells around me for the first half of the breakfast get-together, but soon realized he had nothing to worry about. I straight up acted like I was hit upside the head and ended up losing the memories of last night and last night only. Colby relaxed after seeing how nonchalant I was about the entire situation and it all went smoothly.

The weather outside was beautiful and even though I didn't have any plans during the day, I decided to make the most of the beauty of the outside without actually leaving the house. Yes, I was chilling by the pool in the back yard. Sitting on the ledge with my legs knee-deep in the water, reading a book in the company of Buddy and Circa, what more could I ask for?

No one wanted to bother me, nor did they want to waste their time in their poorly kept pool. By the time noon rolled around, most of the roommates were gone, only Elton, Sam, Aaron, Colby and I remaining.

- Hey - I turned to locate the source of the voice

Colby was standing a few feet away from me with a small smile on his face.

- Hey - I replied and patted the spot next to me on the concrete

He walked over and sat down next to me. I turned to face him completely - What's up?

- Nothing much. I just..... - he trailed off as he reached in the pocket of his shorts

I raised an eyebrow as my gaze followed the movement of his hand. He pulled out a silver necklace that looked like the one I lost in Vegas. My other eyebrow raised too, making me look twice as confused.

- I can not, in good consciousness, keep this, no matter how much I want to - he handed it to me. I took it with a shaky and loose grip - You dropped it in my hotel room....that night. - He looked away, rubbing the back of his neck.

I closely inspected the silver necklace as if it was my first time seeing it. It all started to make sense. I all of a sudden felt a wave of guilt.

- Thank you, I appreciate it. I really love this necklace. - I said as I started digging through my brain, looking for a way to explain where his chain was - Um, remember that silver chain you let me try on a year ago.

His brows furrowed in thought before a glint of remembering flickered in his eyes - Yeah, why?

- Well, you might also remember I never gave it back - he nodded and I continued - Don't get me wrong, I would give it back...... - I stopped to let out a sigh

- But? - he continued for me

- But, I don't own the diving equipment required to retrieve it - I said, looking down at the necklace in my hands.

To my surprise, he started laughing. I frowned and looked up at him, rising one eyebrow at how funny he found the situation.

- Oh, you're the best - he said once he pulled himself together

- How so? - I raised my eyebrow even higher, to the point where it was nearly blending into my hairline.

- That necklace was for you. - he started laughing again

What?

No seriously, what?!

- What? - I finally voiced my thoughts

- You think I just forgot it with you? Of course not! I didn't really know how to give it to you without letting you know way too much.

- Oh - I stared at him in disbelief
