Today
Sabrina's POV
Today. Five years after Matt was born. Three years after Leah was born. Yes, Leah Desiree Brock. The second love of our shared lives. Life has never seemed so beautiful. Our days have never been more fulfilled. We still have our shared Traphouse where we hang out over the weekends. Let me tell you, the house has never been louder and more energetic. Little toddlers running around, looking to touch and hold anything they can reach. And then there's us - the terrified parents who are always at least three steps ahead or behind our little devils. We can never keep up with therm. While I'm talking about the differences between the past and present, I have to mention that Colby and I nearly never fight anymore. We have no time for that shit. We're constantly on edge and on our feet with these two. Matt and Leah have teamed up to destroy us. There's not a boring moment with them around. And as good as that is, it's exhausting. We also haven't gotten more than five hours of sleep since Matt was born but we've learned to live with it and manage the day and it's troubles with the hours and cups of coffee we get. Kat and Sam have their twins to look after, so we only see each other on the weekends. Yes, unlike us, they remained patient and waited till birth to find out the gender of their baby. Well, as it turns out, it was 'babies'. Two little girls that have both their parents wrapped around their finger. Especially Sam. He's literally their servant. It's quite funny and cute to observe. Kat and I can have a break when Sam and Colby are home, the kids find them more fun than us which we're not complaining about.
- Hey - I look over my shoulder when a voice breaks through to me.
I can't help but laugh at the scene that's presented in front of me. Colby is covered in baby food so much so, you can't even see the design on his shirt. - What storm messed you up?
- The one I've been trying to feed for thirty minutes now - he chuckles, grabbing a paper towel from the kitchen island.
The 'storm' we're talking about is Corey and Devyn's daughter Serena. They have stuck with one kid all this time. Well, they gave up somewhere along the way, seeing as how Devyn is currently three months pregnant. They are at the doctor's to check on the soon-to-be-newborn. They left Serena with us before going.
- She likes you better - he tells me as he wets the towel before scrubbing his shirt.
- I doubt it - I grab one paper towel and try to help him out - She puked on me last week.
- That has happened only once. It's a mess every single time I try to bring food within her close proximity. - He throws his dirty paper towel in the trash.
- You deserve a break. I'll see what I can do. - I tell him and glance at the pot on the stove - Could you please take over that situation. - I point at the unfinished dinner I've just started preparing.
- I'd choose that over feeding Serena any day - he unties the apron I'm wearing and puts it on himself, wrapping the strings around his waist.
- Just make it eatable - I roll my eyes and leave the kitchen to go to the dining room. I quicken my pace as I remember the toddler that's left there alone.
- Mia! Nadia! Don't bother the dogs! - I hear Kat call out to her girls from the dining room.
I slow down my pace now that I know Kat is keeping Serena company.
- Hi - I peek my head around the corner with a smile, greeting Kat
She's sitting in the chair next to Serena's highchair, trying desperately to get the stubborn toddler to turn its head to her and eat her food.
