Sabrina's POV

- There's no way we're going. - Colby shook his head dismissively as I searched my head for every reasonable argument that could change his mind.

We were arguing over the glittery piece of paper that came in an equally glittery envelope. It was an invitation to a wedding. One of Colby's friends, Michael, was getting married.

- Oh, come on! - I whined like a little kid - It'll be fun!

Colby shook his head once again - I don't doubt it. I'm just really not looking forward to flying six hours from LA to Maine.

I took a second from my complaining and whining to ask - Why is the wedding in Maine anyway?

- That's where him and Jess met. Vacay-baes - Colby chuckled as he turned the piece of paper around in his hands

- Oh, so they're one of those rare cases of summer love lasting for longer than one season - I smiled and took the invitation from him - How are you OK with missing out on something so lovely?

- I'm OK with it the second I think about how long the flight will be - He told me as if scolding a child.

I stared at him with narrowed eyes for a moment or two before deciding to take a different approach. I sighed dramatically, as if accepting my defeat and slumped my shoulders - Alright, fine. Whatever you say.

I began walking away and stopped right before I started climbing up the stairs so I was out of his view point.

- Bet you're a terrible dancer anyway. You're not too subtle about hiding it, you know? - I hid the giggle, trying to sound as mocking as possible.

Not even a second later....

- Fuck it, we're going! - Colby yelled from the living room

I silent laughed behind the wall, struggling to catch my breath - What changed you mind? - that was probably the most effort I've put into saying something my whole life.

- Doesn't matter. All that matters is that we're going. Find yourself something to wear - he came around the corner, swooping me up in his arms - Though, I'd prefer if you didn't.

- I'm pretty sure the rest of the attendees at the wedding wouldn't appreciate that - I giggled as I strained my legs to touch the ground.

I knew he would cave eventually. How could he not? It's his long time friend's wedding, it's in a beautiful state he has never been in, and I was there practically giving him my best puppy dog gaze. He was doomed to back off and let me have my way sooner or later.

- We can leave a week early and stop by in New York. If you want to, that is - He told me as he finally put me down and spun me around so I was facing him.

I smiled. I knew he wasn't very fond of the state of New York, Brooklyn to be more specific, but he was still willing to go back there if I wanted to. He was OK with revisiting a location where some of our worst memories took place. I had no choice when it came to going back there. It was my home after all. But he fought back his demons and was ready to take one for me and for the things I wanted. I felt my heart blush and smile just like me.

I took hold of his hands and looked him in the eyes - Are you sure? - I emphasized my question with a subtle widening of my eyes. I was really not looking forward to seeing him hurt at the sight of all those places that are familiar to him from some bad memories.

- 100% - He nodded reassuringly - Just say you wanna go, and we'll go. Not just New York. Anywhere. Wherever you wanna go, whatever you wanna do, just tell me, and I'll make it happen.
