Colby's POV

Sam was gripping at his seat belt for dear life as I knowingly but the same time unknowingly exceeded the speed limit. The tires of my car were grinding against the gravel back-roads and the asphalt of the busy streets, with every turn leading me closer to my destination - the hospital.

Minutes earlier, Kat had called Sam, telling him Sabrina had gone into labor. Despite her pregnancy being nothing short of bearable and easy to handle, with minimum sickness and pain, I was still terrified.

- How about you don't kill us before we get to see our children. - Sam warned me with a shaky tone.

Kat too was pregnant. She was only halfway into her pregnancy and the wait to hold their child in their arms was unbearable. Holding my son would probably soothe their irritation for a while. Yes, son. Sabrina and I have never been patient people nor people that like surprises, so we wanted to be prepared when it came to the gender of the baby. The second we found out it was a boy, Sabrina was beyond concerned the he would turn out to be a mini-me. Though, I'll have to admit, I knew he would take after his mother more than me all along.

As I did a poor parking job in the hospital's parking lot, Sam was busy texting our entire gang, telling them the news they probably already knew thanks to Kat.

We quickly got out of the car and ran all the way to the entrance with me almost forgetting to lock the car doors. I got a little dizzy on the way inside the hospital, I had to take a breather to the side while Sam was asking for directions at the reception desk. Once he started heading back towards me, I regained my breath and energy and we took off in the direction of the operating room Sabrina was in.

In the hallway, outside the door, we saw all our friends, proving that they already knew, maybe even before we did. Strange thing was, Kat wan't there. All the chairs were occupied and there were probably more people standing up than sitting down. That's when I noticed Devyn and Tara weren't there either. I headed straight for the door, but Corey stopped me, grabbing me by the arm.

- How is she? How long has she been in there? - I panicked, giving each face a frantic questioning look. They all looked so much healthier then me and Sam. Him and I were as pale as the wall behind us.

- Almost an hour now. Colby, she's doing great. You need to calm down. - Elton came up to me. Jake jumped up from his seat, giving it up to me - Sit down. You're probably in a worse condition than her.

- How can I not be worried when I'm not in there with her - I hide my face in my hands

- She specifically said to not let you in when you arrived. I remember her using the word 'weak' to describe you when we asked her why - Jake snickered

I gave him a narrow-eyed look - Still, she's alone in there! I can't be calm, dude.

- She's not alone. She has a doctor, three nurses and her three best friends. I think she's doing just alright - Elton nodded to me with a smile.

*Two hours later*

The door opened and three well-known faces stepped out with big happy grins plastered onto their faces. They almost looked like aliens in the things they were given to wear, at least they had taken off their surgical masks. Two of them were pregnant themselves.

I instantly shot up from my seat, the color yet again draining from my face - How is she?

- They're both doing great. You'll be able to see them in a bit - Kat smiled, reminding me that there was one more beating heart in that room than there was approximately three hours ago - Congratulations, Colby.

The feeling was more overwhelming than I expected. I felt more dizzy than before. It was a strange feeling indeed. I had been waiting for that moment for what seemed like years and now that it was finally here, I couldn't wrap my brain around it. People congratulated me, hugged me, tapped me on the back. I couldn't feel a thing. The events were all a blur up until the point I saw the prettiest scene I've ever come across.

Sabrina was holding a little bundle of what seemed to be towels. My feet dug themselves into the floor, I couldn't move closer, I couldn't look away. I wanted to keep moving. I wanted to get to them as soon as possible. But I fell in a trance. A trance so bad, I could barely blink or breathe. It all seemed too good to be true.

- He won't bite - Sabrina chuckled humorlessly, giving me a tired smile

She had no color whatsoever, her face was nearly translucent. Her eyelids could barely stay open. She was in desperate need for a nap, but she wasn't ready to give it to herself yet. She only took her eyes off the treasure she was holding when she spoke to me for that short moment.  I couldn't blame her. There was nothing in this entire world that could make us look away from our newborn son.

- I'm sure he won't - I chuckled, giving her the same exhausted look she was giving me.

Unlike her, I was emotionally exhausted. The turmoil of the emotions running through me along with the conflicting thoughts had knocked every ounce of energy I had in me. She seemed a lot better than the Sabrina I was expecting to see when I walked in. Maybe the color of her face was gone but her humor was still there.

One of the nurses pulled a chair next to her bed and nodded at it, signalling for me to sit down which was probably a good idea since I hadn't realized my legs were shaking.

- You wanna name him? - she looked up at me for the second time, her eyes glowing with what seemed to be excitement.

- I'll name our daughter - I kissed the top of her head

She remained quiet for a few moments, looking off into space. I didn't say anything, I could tell her train of thought went beyond just a normal trance.

- You remember that edit you proposed to me with? - she suddenly asked

- How could I not. - A smile grew on my lips as I recalled that day. I still remember it so vividly, as if it were part of a movie. Every scene down to every detail.

- You remember the songs from that edit? - she asked me, a smile playing at her lips too

It was now my turn to fall into deep thought. I could recall some of the lyrics and with my remaining brain power, I connected them to their titles.

- I think one was called 'Have I told you' and the other was called.....- the other I couldn't put my finger on despite all efforts.

- Emerald eyes - she finished my sentence - Do you remember who sings those songs?

- I don't know what you're getting at here, but no, I don't remember. You know you're better at remembering song names than me. - I chuckled, kissing her temple.

She snickered - Yeah. Well one of them's by Anson Seabra and the other is by Matthew Mole. So.... - she trailed of, looking up at me with a joyful smile, eyes rimmed with tears that reflected her happiness.

- Matthew Anson Brock. - I stole the thought from her before she could say it out loud - I love it.

- I hope he does too - we looked down at the small face that seemed awfully displeased to be in this world - Look at this little rascal, not even ten minutes in and he's sick of this place already. Aren't you, Matt?

The small face contorted, turning from a frown into a smile.

- Here we go. Another Brock who'll toy with my patience - Sabrina rolled her eyes at me playfully before, looking down at Matt. - He's gonna be just like you.

- Nah, I actually think he be exactly like you - I denied

She shook her head - There's no denying. He has your eyes, therefore, he has a part of your soul.

I laughed, examining the tiny ocean blue dots - Maybe it's just the eyes.

Turns out, neither of us was right. Matthew Anson Brock took after both of us equally. From her stubbornness to my pride. From her hair color to my eye color, he was built from a half of each of us. Only time will tell weather it's the good half or not, probably in his teenage years.
