"Your father and I have noticed how well Prince Taehyung is doing, he has no reason to stay here now that he's finished." Queen Jeon says, regarding the fork drop as an accident.

I'm the reason,

Jungkook wants to say badly, but he can't. So he just nods and requests a different fork, eating the rest of his meal in peace.

The younger prince can feel Taehyung's eyes burning into his soul but he refuses to look at him. He can't, because if he does then that means he'll see the sorrow in the red royal's eyes and that will be the last straw for Jungkook to break down.

And he can't do that, not in front of the King and Queen, the staff, not ever.

So after breakfast Jungkook excuses himself from the table, scooting back from his chair and ignoring the way it scraped against the floor loudly. He walked along the halls until he found a door, swinging the hooded cape he had grabbed from his room only moments ago over his shoulders. He stomped out of the castle, heading straight to town.

-

Jungkook promised himself he'd never drink again, but could you blame him from wanting to get away from his thoughts for a few minutes?

All he could think about was Taehyung's touch and voice, and how much he'd miss it. So he wandered into the bar and asked Namjoon to fix him up with a drink.

"Why are you here alone Prince Jungkook?" Namjoon asked, running his fingers through his light hair out of habit. Jungkook shrugged and downed his drink, tilting his head to the side as he thought about telling Namjoon everything.

I mean, he's just a townsperson, anything he would say, not that he would, is far out of reach from the castle, and he's a friend. Maybe he could share some advice.

"Well," Jungkook started, tapping his empty glass against the wood countertop. He then told the older all about him and Taehyung, maybe being a little too detailed at moments but honestly, he didn't care.

"So you're in love with him, huh?" Namjoon asked, laying his chin in his hand and he smirked down at Jungkook.

"What? Of course not, I just..." Jungkook trailed off, not really sure how he felt. He's never been in love before, but he was sure about one thing. And it's that he didn't want to let go of the red haired royal.

"Sounds to me like you are."

"What do you know?" Jungkook scoffed, pushing his glass towards the older. Namjoon reluctantly poured him more.

"You're right, I know nothing. But I've seen the way the two of you look at each other-"

"It would never work out anyways, so forget about it."

"You're right, with him wanting to be King of his Kingdom and you wanting to be King of yours- it just doesn't fit. Unless... the two of you could become alianced like-"

"No." Jungkook huffed, sipping from the burning drink.

"What do you mean?"

"Taehyung doesn't want to be King."

"Oh... well do you?"

"I don't know." The younger whines, slamming his cup on the counter to grab fistfuls of his dark hair. "I just want to be happy. And to do that, I need to be with him."

"Then be with him. If you really want to then you'll find a way."

"But I have to be King. We can't just not have a ruler Namjoon. I guess... I guess sometimes being a King means you don't always get to be happy."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm going to be King, and I can't change that. So I'll have to let him go."

"Jun- Prince Jungkook... think about how this makes Prince Taehyung feel too."

"I am. Which is why I have to. We can't be together, there's no point in chasing after something we can't have, it's best if we forget about each other before we both break completely. Our Kingdoms will do better this way anyways."

Before Namjoon can say anything Jungkook passes some money across the counter and leaves, pulling his hood further over his head.

It's dark now, he must have been there for way longer than he thought.

He'll have to think of an excuse for being out, but the walk there is pretty lengthy so he'll have time to come up with something promising. Except his thoughts are too jumbled at the moment.

What's it going to be like without Taehyung by his side?

How will the night feel without him wrapped around Jungkook? Cold? Lonely?

Will he ever be loved again? Does Taehyung even love him?

Surely he doesn't right, this is just a fling.

Taehyung will forget about Jungkook when they part ways and go back to how things were. Wasn't that what Jungkook wanted from the beginning?

The young prince shakes his head, nearing the large castle already. He slips in through the side door and makes his way upstairs to his room. He doesn't run into anybody, thankfully, and as he walks into his room he carefully shuts the door and throws his hooded cape somewhere unknown. He closes his eyes and stands there, staring at his shiny shoes.

Then suddenly Jungkook's being pushed backwards- no, more like slammed backwards. He winces as his shoulder blades hit the firm door, his hands coming up to immediately grip the culprit's wrists.

He grunts and out of impulse pushes the other person away, turning around so they're against the door now. He pins them by their shoulders, his grip far to strong for the other to break free.

"What the fuck Jungkook?!" Taehyung yells, struggling against the younger's hold.

"You're the one who started this! Don't blame me for acting out of shock."

"No, I'm talking about how you just get up and leave, disappearing for the whole fucking day. How was I supposed to talk to you, huh? What if I wanted to tell you how I felt?! Instead you ran away like a selfish bitch because you don't know what to do! There's two people here, think about how I feel for once would you?!" Taehyung growls, shoving Jungkook off of him. The younger stumbles back and grits his teeth, the veins near his temples popping out with frustration.

"You don't think I haven't?!" He yells, pointing at himself. "I'm just trying to figure out how to let you go Taehyung!"

"Let me go? What the fuck Jungkook?!"

"This can't work Taehyung! And you know that... what were we thinking?" Jungkook whispers, puffing his bottom lip out as his arms fall limply to his sides. "We knew from the start we couldn't be together. We're to royals from different Kingdoms, in line for different thrones. There's no miracle to wait for... we can't change what happens."

"This is what I mean. Royalty fucking sucks, we can't do what we want."

Jungkook just nods and walks backwards a few feet until he falls down on his bed, rubbing his tense face roughly. He feels the mattress dip to his side and Taehyung sits down, placing a comforting hand on his thigh.

"Taehyung please... don't touch me. I have to- to get used to being without you."

"Can't I just spend my last few hours with you? Queen Jeon said I'm leaving tomorrow morning, she doesn't want me to travel at night."

Jungkook visibly grimaces, the alcohol in his system being the only thing that keeps him from breaking down completely. He's scared to do anything, fearing that it'll just be more to miss in the end. But he'd do anything for Taehyung, even if that means breaking himself in the process.

So with that Jungkook grabs the back of Taehyung's thigh and pulls him over him, forcing the older royal to straddle his hips.
