Wah doesn't that fan art piece look really cool?!
————————————————————

King and Queen Jeon finally noticed the mood of their son decrease rapidly a few days later. At first they didn't bother to interfere, the boy was old enough to solve his own problems, but when he dragged his feet around whenever he completed tasks, the lack of emotion in his words, the way his eye seemed dull and red everyday, and how he always spent time in the garden or his room, they finally decided to say something.

King Jeon was dealing with matters of the Song Kingdom, leaving the Queen to talk with her son alone. She loved Jungkook dearly and hated seeing him sad, that's why her heart almost broke into millions of pieces when she stepped outside and saw him sitting with his back against the fountain, a tear gathering in the corner of his mouth before he aggressively wiped it away.

"Honey?" Queen Jeon asked sweetly, her voice soft and comforting like it always had been.
Jungkook didn't bother straightening himself out this time, just stayed seated on the grass and stared off into space.

"Do you love father?" He asked after the Queen had taken a seat next to him.

"Yes, I do. Why do you ask Jungkookie?"

Jungkook almost let out a loud sob at the nickname, remembering exactly how it sounded when Taehyung called him that.

"I miss him mother."

"Miss who? Is this why you're sad?"

"Taehyung, mother. I miss Taehyung. He made me so happy, and I don't know how to be happy without him here."

"Jungkookie," the Queen said, clasping her cold hands around one of Jungkook's. "You love him, don't you?"

"Yeah. There's no point in hiding it now, he's gone. So far away..."

"Why do you think it's love?"

"Because he's my everything. My breath and my sight and my heartbeat. I smell him and feel at home, touch him and feel secure, kiss him and know everything will be perfect."

"I see." The Queen mumbled, not at all disappointed with her son. She had always wanted him to fall in love, knowing what it felt like.

The two sat there together, hands touching and trees blowing softly around them. It was just after noon, the sun still up in the sky as the birds chirped and the hills rose in the horizon. It was a large expanse of green meadows out there, dots of flowers and swooshes of the wind.

"I slept with him mother." Jungkook whispered, slightly nervous about what his mother's reaction would be, but more relieved that he had told someone. He felt her hand tense briefly, before it relaxed.

"You're a grown man Jungkook."

"It was amazing mother, I didn't know anything could feel so good."

The Queen was silent, not sure what to say. This specific topic was always too personal for one to talk about, but it was her job to care for and listen to her son.

"I miss it. And him. I miss Taehyung so bad. I just don't want to do anything anymore. It's tiring, without him here. It all seems pointless- maybe he was right."

"Right about what sweetie?"

"Being a royal fucking sucks."

The Queen threw her hand over her mouth, trying to stifle a laugh as she looked to her side.

"Maybe I should just run away with him. Then we can be together, right? Without the whole weight of a Kingdom on our shoulders."

"Honey, we need a ruler. These people can't take care of themselves without guidance."

"Well why does the ruler have to be in the same bloodline? Who made up that rule? Seems pretty dumb to me." Jungkook shrugged. "Make Jimin King. Or Yoongi, damn even Namjoon."

"You don't want to be King?" She asked, worry laced in her words.

"I don't know mother. But I do know that I want Taehyung, and he doesn't want to be a King at all."

"Oh..."

"I just want him mother. That's all there is too it. I want him here, right now, so that for the first time in a long time I feel happy and content."

The Queen sighed and turned to the side so she could face her son, then wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into her chest in that protective motherly hug that always felt warm and secure.

"I wasn't supposed to tell you this, but the Kingdoms are all meeting again to discuss the plans for the next generation of rulers. We're meeting at the Song Kingdom, you'll have to come with of course."

"When...?" Jungkook asked after a beat of silence.

"In a few days. Your father wanted me to wait and tell you the day before, I'm not quite sure why he wanted that though."

"Will Taehyung be there?"

"Yes he-"

Jungkook gasped and scrambled away then got to his feet and jumped around excitedly. He pulled his hair with wide eyes and smiled, the biggest grin the Queen has seen in months. And there in his blue eyes she saw it, that love for that other royal that Jungkook was so stuck in, so she laughed, partly because her son was acting younger than he was, and got to her feet as well.

"Mother I get to see him?!"

"Not if your father sees you acting so childish." The Queen chuckled as she brushed her dress off.

"Oh my god, mother I can't breathe." Jungkook frantically said, throwing his hand over his quickly beating heart. "I have to wait out these next few days... they're going to go by slowly aren't they? You should have waited to tell me like father said!"

"So you could get on me about it?"

"W-Well..."

"Exactly. Now, honey, I have some things I need to attend to at the moment."

Jungkook nodded and then just as she turned to leave he ran over to her and embraced her tightly. Jungkook was taller than his mother, and she felt an overwhelming feeling of pride at the man he's turned out to be- when he wasn't jumping around like a lunatic.

"My handsome boy." She whispered while cupping his cheek gently. Then she smiled and walked away, and once she was out of sight Jungkook cheered loudly and ran back into the castle.
