"Colby can I ask you something?" I look over to my left, where Colby is sitting in the sand.

Everyone else is in the water swimming. It's our last full day and we spent it swimming and relaxing.

We all leave in the morning. I haven't talked to anyone about what is going to happen after this. Are we all going to still be friends? Will we hang out like we do?

"Sure." He looks over at me and smiles.

"Did you plan this trip?"

I can see his neck, almost look like he gulps.

"Yeah I did." He smiles again.

"Kind of funny how we are all here the same amount of time right?"

He looks at the water. "Yeah what a coincidence."

I raise an eyebrow. "Yeah-"

He looks at me once again.

"Coincidence." I finish.

"I'm going to miss you guys." He says.

"Well we all live in La so we can hang out still right?"

"Yeah, I guess, but it won't be the same." He says.

"Why?"

"Well." He positions his body so he's facing me a little more.

"First of all, Riley." He shrugs his shoulders. "I know she'll be jealous if I hang out with you like we are now."

I nod my head. "Understandable."

"And second of all, Sam and I are usually really busy so it'll be hard to make time to hang out."

I nod my head slowly. "Again, makes sense."

"So yeah." He starts playing with the sand.

"Colby?" He looks up from the sand and into my eyes.

"Did you know?" I gulp and the butterflies flutter in my stomach.

"Know what?" He crosses his arms and raises an eyebrow.

"Did you know that the three of us were going to be staying here this summer?"

"How would I know that? I didn't even know who you were before this trip." He scoffs.

"Just seems a little too good to be true." I look down at the sand.

"Maybe you should just be happy that's its good, and true." I look at him and he has a serious look plastered on my face. His look makes me feel weird about asking in the first place.

"I have to use the bathroom." I stand up and head inside.

I don't have to use the bathroom at all. I grab my phone and dial the number to the man who owns the beach house.

"Hello?" The voice says on the other end of the phone.

"Hi, Mr. Oliver?"

"Yes, speaking."

"Hi, this is Kendall Lahey, i'm staying in your house on Abalone Cove Shoreline Park beach."

"Oh yes of course! Is everything okay?"

I hear someone coming through the backdoor so I quickly go upstairs so no one hears my conversation.

"Oh my gosh yes everything is great, the house is amazing. I just had a quick question?"

"Go for it, I don't have a ton of time right now so make it quick."

I make a face at his bluntness but shrug it off and decide to, make it quick.

"Did you get another booking during the same time as us?"

"Another booking? Like someone staying there the same time you are?"

"Yes."

"No I didn't."

I sigh, great.

"Actually, wait."

I hear some paper being moved around in the background of the phone.

"I did get a call actually from someone and he asked me if there was someone there but I said yes. So that obviously meant he couldn't stay there, without paying."

"So they didn't pay?"

"Nope, you were supposed to be the only one up there." I nod my head. "Wait, is there someone else up there with you?"

Should I rat out Colby? What if it wasn't even him?

"No, they came and said something about it but told them they couldn't stay with us."

"Ok good, if they did you'd be paying for their trip." He starts laughing hysterically. What he said wasn't even funny.

"Okay well thank you Mr. Oliver, I really appreciate your time."

"Anytime, I hope you had a great stay."

"I did, thank you very much. Bye."

"Goodbye."

I toss my phone onto my bed and sigh deeply. A knock on the bedroom door makes me jump violently.

"Who is it?" The door opens slowly to reveal Zoe and Adriana standing there.

"It's your room too, why didn't you just come in?" I laugh.

"We heard you on the phone." Zoe says. "Are you really convinced that they planned this trip with ours on purpose?"

"Come in and close the door."

They walk in and sit down next to me.

"Guys I really think this trip wasn't a coincidence." I sigh.

"What did the owner say?" Adriana asks.

"He said that there wasn't supposed to be anyone up here with us. However, he did get a call from someone and they asked if the house was available."

"That could've been anyone." Zoe says.

"Yeah it could've been," I look up at them both. "I don't believe it was just anyone."

"Did you try talking to Colby about it?" Zoe asked.

"Yes and he denied it."

We all sigh at the same time, making us all burst out laughing.

"So what if they planned it? We had fun and they're nice people." Adriana says. I look at her and shrug my shoulders.

Maybe she's right, would it be so bad that it was all planned?

"I think what's bothering me the most is that I don't know why."

Adriana and Zoe nod their heads in agreement.

"Well, we all leave tomorrow!" Zoe says. "We shouldn't be sitting her moping about our last hours, let's go make them count."

"You're so right." I stand up. "I'm totally overthinking this!"

I walk out of the bedroom with the girls and go outside where everyone else is.

Am I overthinking this?
