Beach House // colby brock

Chapter 44

"That was insane." I mumble as we walk away from the mirror.

"I could feel my body get heavy when I saw her." Colby adds.

"She seemed sad." Jake says.

"Well yeah, I'm not surprised." I say. "She died, she was so little."

"I don't want to come back here." Jake whines.

I put my arm around his waist as we walk.

"There you guys are!!" A frantic Sam swings around from the corner of the hallway. "Where've you been?"

"We were just exploring." Colby says.

"Did you see anything?" Sam blurts.

"No." Colby lied. Colby actually lied to Sam.

Jake and I look at each other, I know he's thinking the same thing as me.

"Okay." Sam gives Colby a weird look and I can tell that he doesn't believe him. "well Corey really wants to go so, you guys ready to head out now?"

We all nod our heads quickly.

"I'm ready for a nap." Colby says.

"Me fucking too, I got woken up from my peaceful slumber." I look at Colby and he grins.

We make it back to our room and Corey is sitting on the couch with his bag in his hand.

"Alright lets go." He gets up and slings his bag over his shoulder.

We all laugh, grab our bags, and head home.

"I like going on trips like these with you guys." I grab a glass of water for myself and Colby.

"You do? I honestly thought you'd be scared." He says.

"No," I sit down next to him on his couch and hand him his glass. "It was like nothing I'd ever seen before."

He nods his head. "Seeing a ghost is pretty life changing."

We both laugh.

"Hey I haven't seen you hang out with Zoe or Adriana in a while." He pipes up.

I'm sure lots of people have been noticing it. I think Jake and Corey really know what went down between us.

"Yeah, we've just been busy." I lie and take a drink of water.

"Ooh well, I know that one of my friends is throwing a birthday party at his house, you three can come with the boys and I."

By three of us I know he meant me, Zoe and Adriana. If it's a party, and Corey is going, then Zoe is most likely going, which means Adriana is most likely going already as well.

"I would love to go, I'll see if the girls want to go to." I smile. "Zoe is probably already going with Corey though."

"I'm actually not sure if Corey is going." He shrugs.

"Do I know this friend?" I ask.

"I don't think so, his name is Bryce Hall."

"Nah doesn't ring a bell." I smile. "But I'll still go for sure, when is it?"

"Tomorrow night." He says. "We can ride over there together if you want."

My eyes wander from my cup in my hands to Colby. His blue eyes sparkle.

"I would love to." I smile back and can feel my cheeks slightly blush.

He looks down at his cup as well and shakes his head slightly.

"Imagine if we never met at the beach house." I say.

He looks back up at me.

"I think about that all the time."
