"Kendall, wake up." My body is shaken, waking me up.
"Whaaa? Who is it?" The room I'm in is dim and I could barely see the person standing in front of me.
"It's Colby." I rub my eyes and sit up. My eyes wander around the room, Corey is asleep in a chair, Sam in the other. Jake is asleep on the couch next to me. We're still at the hotel and I'm surprised we even managed to fall asleep tonight after what happened. Corey had finally managed to talk Sam out of doing a 3am seance, somehow.
"What's wrong?" I look back up to Colby.
"I can't sleep." He says.
"So you woke me?" I smile and stand up.
"Well, if I woke Corey I would never hear the end of it. If i woke Jake, actually I don't know if I'd be able to wake him. And Sam, he'd probably want to do some sort of seance or summoning." He scratches they back of his neck.
I chuckle lightly and smile. "Did you think I wasn't going to do anything if you woke me?"
He shrugs his shoulders.
"Alright let's go." I follow him through the living room and out of the hotel room. "Wait you brought a room key right?" I ask.
He nods his head. "Duh."
"Okay sheesh attitude." I look at him and he smiles.
Colby really is so attractive. His features, are so sincere, and feline like. His lips are perfectly plump and curl at the edges. His nose is strong, yet not a distraction. He obviously gets his eyebrows done, but his eyes in general, wow.
"You're staring you know?" He waves his hand in front of my face.
I shake my head and instantly feel my cheeks blushing. "I was just-"
"Looking." He finishes.
I look up at him again. "Yeah you know? I was admiring you."
He laughs.
"What's so funny?" I ask. We walk down some stairs and are headed towards the lobby.
"Nothing." He continues to laugh slightly.
"No, now you have to tell me."
He runs his fingers through his hair. "I just think it's funny, you admiring me."
"Why?"
"Because I admire you all the time."
He looks at me and shakes his head.
We make it down to the lobby and walk around looking at everything.
"Wait Colby look." I point to a plaque on the wall by the entrance. It's a memorial for the little girl who died here.
"Oh my god, how did we miss this?"
We read it over and I realize the entire time I'm frowning.
"This poor girl." I whisper.
"I can't even imagine," He says.
"Imagine what?"
"Dying that young. I want to live a full life, I'm sure she did too." I look down at my feet.
"It's things like these that make me want to live my life to the fullest." Colby continues. "For people who couldn't."
"I'm going to start crying." I lift my head up to the lights.
"That's not the point." Colby chuckles.
"I know it's just sad to think about."
We're swarmed in our thoughts when we hear a thud behind us. We turn around and I can't help but laugh when I see a Jake, at the bottom of the stairs.
"Jake are you okay?" Colby and I go over to his side.
"I fell down the stairs." He says.
"When are you not falling down a flight of stairs?" Colby rolls his eyes.
We help him up and he smiles at us.
"What are you guys doing?" He asks.
"We found the memorial for the girl who died here." I say.
"Oh shit really?"
Colby and I nod our heads.
"Do you guys want.." Jake looks at both of us mischievously.
"Do we want what?" I ask.
"To go to the mirror?"
I exchange looks with Colby.
"I don't really want to see a ghost right now." I say.
"I will." Colby says. "Let's go!" He and Jake run in the opposite direction, leaving me stranded.
"Okay hey don't worry about me guys, I'll just uh, I don't know." I stand there for a second, debating.
Standing there alone was probably going to be more creepy than seeing a ghost. I decide to make my way in the direction they went. As I turn around a corner I practically shit my pants, when Jake and Colby jump out at me.
"AHH!" They both say at the same time, jumping from either side of the corner. I scream and fall back on the ground.
I clutch my chest, my heart feels like it's going to explode out of my chest.
"SHIT!" I lay back on the ground and close my eyes.
All I can hear is the laughter from Jake and Colby.
I open my eyes and they're both standing over me, looking down at my probably pale face.
"We knew you were going to follow us." Jake says.
I remain silent and make sure my heart beat finally goes back to normal.
Colby holds out his hand to help me up but I swat it away.
"You guys are dicks, fuck you." I stand up on my own and take a deep breath.
"You'll get over it." Jake gives me a side hug.
"Can we just go to this mirror and then go home?" I scoff.
"Chill out Kendall it was just a joke." Jake says.
I roll my eyes. "I'm sorry."
I am being kind of harsh.
Jake smiles and hugs me one more time.
We make our way down a long hallway, and when we turn another corner I can already see the mirror at the end of it.
"Is that it?" I ask.
"Yeah." Colby says. We get closer and closer to the mirror.
Finally, we're standing inches in front of it.
"So." I say. "Did you guys do anything or say anything or did she just appear?"
"She just, appeared." Jake says.
We stand there looking at each other in the mirror, for what seemed like forever.
"Wait." Jake whispers. "Look."
We all look closely in the mirror.
My heart beat becomes faster once again, when I notice a shadow move across the mirror.
I grab Jake and Colbys hand before the shadow, had become the figure, we've been talking about all night.
