"So a little girl was murdered here." Sam reads off his computer.
"How the hell is a little girl murdered in a hotel?" Corey asks, worried.
"It says here she had a severe peanut allergy. She ate something that had peanuts and she died almost instantly because she couldn't breathe."
"Jesus." Jake whispers.
"What about the parents?" I ask.
"They held the funeral service here, at the hotel." Sam reads.
"Why would they do that?" Colby asks.
"Apparently it says here that it was their first vacation as a family, and they wanted to memorialize it."
"That's really sad." I say quietly.
Sam closes his laptop.
"I think some of us should go look around the hotel for a little bit and some of us stay here in case anything happens in the room." Sam stands up.
"How about Colby, Sam, and Jake." Corey says. Why would he volunteer them? I know he's a scaredy cat, but usually Sam or Colby would pick who goes.
"You sure?" Jake asks.
Corey nods his head.
"Okay then." Jake shrugs his shoulders.
"Let me go to the bathroom real quick and then we can go." Colby skips to the bathroom.
I sit on the couch in the living room while Corey sits in one chair and Jake sits in the other.
"I'm scared of being here alone." I wrap my arms around my legs and shiver.
"You're not alone." Jake moves from the chair he was sitting in and next to me on the couch. He wraps his arms around me and I immediately become warm again.
"If I didn't know you guys, I'd think you were dating." Corey pipes up from the other chair.
I roll my eyes. "We're just bestfriends."
Corey smiles but then looks down at his feet. What's gotten into him?
"Alright Jake, you ready?" Sam walks over to us with Colby behind him.
"I'll be back." Jake squeezes me tight. I look up and Colby is giving me a weird look.
Jake gets up and walks out of the hotel room with Sam and Colby.
They wanted Corey and I to stay behind and film anything that may happen in the room while they go explore a certain part of the hotel.
"Are you okay?" Corey asks suddenly after the others had left.
"Yeah why?"
"Zoe told me what happened."
I totally forgot they were dating.
"Oh." Is all I can muster.
"She's really upset." He says.
"I don't care." I try to keep myself from bursting out in tears. I do care, I care about her a lot, but how could she treat me the way she did?
"Do you want to tell me what happened?" He asks. "From your perspective?"
I sigh. I don't really want to talk about it at all. Also, if I'm not talking to Jake about it, it's weird.
"All I'll say is, she did me really dirty. She threw me under the bus, that she was driving. I don't understand how she said the things she said or why she was even thinking them. I don't want to talk to her, It's not my place to be the one to go to her. She needs to come to me."
