Chapter 34

"I don't know Jake." I hold my stomach as we approach Sam's door.

"You got this." He says. "You don't even have to leave my side all night."

He's about to open the door but I grab his wrist.

"Kendall." He sighs.

"Jake." I say his own name back.

"Don't be afraid or nervous or anything." He smiles. "You can't avoid them forever."

I look down at the ground, he's right. I nod my head and let go of his wrist.

He opens the door and the sound of laughter and talking floods out of the apartment.

"Jake!" A familiar voice, assuming it's Sam, yells as Jake walks in.

I keep sort of close to Jake when I walk in as well.

"Oh my gosh Kendall!" I look over to the kitchen area and Sam is looking at me with a ginormous smile on his face.

"Hi Sam!" I try to sound as cheerful as possible.

He waddles over to me and hugs me tight.

"I missed you." He says. I hadn't seen Sam since the beach, seeing him actually made me happy.

Behind the counter were two unfamiliar faces, two girls. One had blue hair, tan skin, and long eyelashes. The other had two different colored parts to her hair and extravagant makeup.

"This is my girlfriend Kat." Sam points to the girl with blue hair. "And this is Xephyr." He points to the girl next to her.

"Hi, I'm Kendall." I smile at them.

"Oh my gosh I've heard so much about you." Kat says.

"You have?" I weakly smile.

"Yes! The boys, especially Corey and Jake, wouldn't stop talking about the trip and all the fun everyone had."

"It really was a lot of fun." I look to my left and notice Jake wasn't there. My eyes scan the room and I see him sitting on the couch next to Colby and another girl. I recognized the girl to be Riley.

"Do you want to sit with us?" I look back at Xephyr and Kat. Xephyr is patting the bar stool next to her.

"Yes I would." I walk around the counter and sit next to them.

My eyes drift towards Colby again. When I look at him, he looks away quickly. I realize that he was already looking at me in the first place.

"Kendall," Kat says my name and I look at her.

"Yeah?" I put a fake smile on my face.

"You don't have to worry." She smiles. "Just relax, have a drink and some pizza."

I look at her and then at Xephyr, and they have almost sympathetic looks on their faces.

"What did Sam tell you." I blush.

"Just a little here and there." Kat says. She leans over Xephyr and closer to me. "I know Colby, he's not the best at relationships, but, from what I've heard, he's pretty fond of you."

I can feel my cheeks blush harder this time.

"That rarely happens." Xephyr adds.

"Here," Kat hands me a White Claw.

"Oh my gosh lime my favorite." I smile.

"Same!" Xephyr exclaims.

I open the drink and don't hesitate to drink it, knowing I may need to be loose tonight.
