"Jake I really don't feel like going out." I groan into the phone and sit on my bed.

"Pleeaassee I promise I'll hang out with you and you don't have to talk to anyone else."

Jake is currently trying to get me to go to a party that  I really don't want to go to, at all.

First, I know Mike and Colby will be there. Second, Zoe and Adriana are both busy already, yes, without me.

"Kendall? You still there?"

I snap myself out of my thoughts.

"You promise you won't leave me?" I ask.

"I promise."

I sigh heavily, before giving in.

"Fine."

"YAY!" Jake screams into the phone. "I'll pick you up in a couple of hours."

I hang up the phone and slump my back down on my bed.

"Why did you say yes?" I question myself aloud.

I stand up and search through my closet for something to wear. I already showered earlier this morning so I don't need one now.

I decide to wear;

I decide to wear;

I give myself one last look in the mirror and walk out into my living room.

I debate on if I should eat something before I leave. I
may be drinking, even though I don't want to, so I should probably eat something.

I open my fridge doors and just as I do, my phone buzzes in my back pocket.

I check to see who it is and the biggest smile creeps onto my face.

Jake: i picked us up some taco bell, be there in a couple of minutes

It's like Jake can read my mind and I love it.

Me: you're the best, i'll meet you downstairs!

I grab my keys, phone, and wallet before heading down.

"Thanks for coming with me I really do appreciate it." Jake says as I hop into the passenger seat.

"You've done so much for me, and you're always there, thought I'd return the favor." I smile. "Even though just going to a party won't ever measure up for what you've done for me, PLUS-"

I grab the bag from the floor of the passenger seat and grin as hard as I can. "You brought me taco bell."

"I'm trying to get you to like Taco Bell more than Chipotle." He says.

"That'll be hard." I laugh. "But I don't mind if you keep trying."

I take a bite of my crunch wrap after putting some mild sauce on it. I roll my eyes back and groan at how good it tastes.

"Geez did that crunch wrap just give you an orgasm??" Jake laughs hysterically, while I practically choke on my food.

"Holy shit Jake!!" I was about to punch his shoulder, but remembered he was driving and probably shouldn't.

"So where is this party at anyway?" I ask.

"It's actually at Sam's apartment." He says. I can see him look at me out of the corner of his eye, making me furrow my eyebrows.

"Sam's apartment? A party? Talk about a noice complaint, and even though I've never been to his place, I'm assuming it's small." I don't take my eyes off Jake while I talk.

"It's bigger than you think," He says. "I don't think that many people are going."

I squint my eyes at a lying Jake. "Jake."

"Yeah?" He smiles.

"Are you being honest with me?"

"Honest?"

I nod my head.

"Sort of." He winces as we pull into the apartment parking garage.

"Jake where are we going?" I ask him.

"Sam's apartment, I told you."

"It's not a party is it."

"No," He sighs and parks the car. "Sam has a pizza night every week with all his friends, and I wanted you to come."

"It's going to be a small setting." I say. He nods his head slowly. "Which means I'll have to associate or even make eye contact with Mike and Colby."

Jake slowly nods his head once again.

"Jaakkkkee!" I moan loudly. "This is like, the last thing I wanted."

"C'mon, you'll have me." He puts his hand out for me to grab it. "You can trust me."

I look at him and he's smiling wide, waiting for me to take his hand.

I can see in his eyes that what he dragged me into was not meant to be anything but trying to get me out of my apartment.

I slowly place my hand into his.

"Good." He pulls my hand towards his face and kisses it softly. At first, I'm kind of shocked, almost weirded out by the gesture, but then I smile. The weird feelings went away and what was left was happiness and reassurance.

"C'mon." We get out of the car and start walking to the elevator.

As we're making our way over, I spot the familiar red Corolla parked in the distance. The sight of it makes my stomach do flips, and I know, this is going to be one interesting night.
