Chapter 49

"Sooo you met Tara?" Kat says unexpectedly. I look at her, eyes still on the road in front of her.

"Yeah." I smile. "She seems nice."

"She is." Kat looks at me from the side of her eye.

"What's wrong?" I turn my body in the passenger seat to face her directly.

"Nothing!" She smiles.

"Something is up." I say. "You're making me anxious."

"Nothing is wrong." We stop at a red light and she looks at me. "I just know you and Jake are close."

"Oh." I look down at my lap, but then look back at her. "Yeah."

"So I know it'll be weird to know that Jake is hanging out with someone who isn't you, right?"

I nod my head. It's like she's reading my mind.

"It's okay." She says, "Tara is really nice, and I know Jake will make time for you. He really loves you."

I smile, "You're right."

"The same thing happened to Colby." She says. I perk my head up and raise an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?"

"When I started dating Sam, Colby was afraid that Sam wouldn't hang out with him as much."

"But they're bestfriends-"

"Exactly." She interrupts me. "Colby went to Sam about he was feeling and Sam made sure that was never going to happen."

"Colby went to Sam?" I ask.

She nods her head. "You should do that."

"Go to Jake?" I ask. She nods her head again.

"You never know. You guys are best friends."

I look back down at my lap and smile. We pull into her apartment building and she parks.

"It'll be fun having a lil sleepover while the boys are out of town." Kat says.

"Hell yeah!" I laugh. I grab my bag and things out of the trunk and go up to her apartment.

"Is it cool if I invite Xephyr and Devyn?"

Ever since I found out that Xephyr and Mike were dating, I've tried to ignore the fact that he practically cheated on her with me. She's such a nice person and I'd hate for her to find out, but I've hung out with her a few times with her and Kat in between then and now.

"I don't think I've met Devyn." I smile. "But I'm down for anything!!"

"Okay! I'm going to call them real quick."

She grabs her phone and heads into the other room. I flop onto the couch and scroll through my phone. Ever since I started hanging out with everyone, my follower count has gone up drastically. However, even though I have more followers, there are those people who want something to hate.

I try not to let it get to me, there's no point. I know that people are bored and have nothing better to do.

"Okay!" Kat comes back into the living room, snapping me out of my thoughts. "They're both coming over!"

"Great!" I smile.

"I'll order a pizza, any requests?"

"Anything but hawaiian." I pretend to stick my finger down my throat. Kat laughs and starts dialing the phone.

My phone buzzes in my hand, interrupting my laughing.

I look down and see a text from Colby.

Colby: I miss you

I smile as I read the text, making my heart warm.

Me: I miss you more

"Alright!" Kat sits on the couch next to me. "Pizza is ordered, friends are coming, drinks are in fridge! The only thing now is to figure out what we should do, watch netflix or play games?"

"Hmm... what kind of games?" I ask.

"I have all kinds of board games, card games, and stuff." She smiles. "Devyn is also a huge makeup guru so she can give us a makeup."

"Beeeeeett." I laugh. "I want a makeover."

"I already asked her to bring her makeup with her." Kat exclaims.

A knock on the door interrupts our chatter. Kat gets up and answers it, Xephyr is standing there with her bag and some odds and ends.

"Hey!" I get up off the couch and give her a hug. "Do you need help carrying anything?"

"Actually if you could take this bag of snacks, my arm is going to break in half." I take the bag from her and set it on the kitchen counter.

I immediately spot the box of cheez it's in the bag.

"You brought cheez it's, god bless you," I laugh.

"I looooove cheez it's." Xephyr laughs with me.

"Just got a text from Devyn, she's on her way!" Kat smiles and helps Xephyr with the rest of her things.

"Hey Kat is okay if I grab a drink from the fridge?" I yell to her as she makes her way to her room.

"Yeah! Go for it!!" She responds.

I scan over the options and spot my favorite, lime white claw. I grab the cold can and pop it open.

"You like the lime ones?" I turn around to face Xephyr.

"Oh yeah, unpopular opinion." I smile.

"No I like them too! But grapefruit is probably my top favorite." She says as she grabs one from the fridge as well.

"Ohhh grapefruit is my second favorite." I smile and take another swig.

"You guys getting drunk already?" Kat comes skipping into the kitchen.

"Duh." Xephyr laughs.

A knock at the door interrupts our laughter before Kat goes over and answers it.

"Hey!" She gives, who I'm assuming is Devyn, a hug.

"Hi Devyn!" Xephyr waves. I walk over to her to introduce myself.

"You must be Kendall!" She gives me a hug. "I've heard a lot about you."

"It's really nice to meet you!" I smile.

"Well you'll all be happy to know I brought my makeup and you're all getting a makeover tonight." She sets her bags down and makeup on the bar.

"Yes I can't wait, I don't remember the last time I had a makeover." I laugh.

"You want a drink Devyn?" Kat goes over to the fridge.

"Sure!" She smiles, showing all her exceptionally white teeth.

"White Claw?" Kats muffled voice from the fridge sings.

"Of course." Devyn rolls her eyes playfully.

Kat hands Devyn her drink as she opens her own.

"To a girls night in." Kat raises her white claw and we all cheers.
