Aubree

I laid in my bed playing with Aaliyah's hair and watching a movie while she laid on my chest.

"Aubree." She looked up at me.

I raised an eyebrow, signaling her to talk.

"What do you think about me picking my dancing back up, officially, I mean getting a building, teaching classes, everything?" She sat completely up.

I sat up too. "I think... that's your passion. Go for it."

"You think so?" She asked.

"I know so, because if you don't, there will always be this void that nothing can fill inside of you." I spoke honestly.

"A void, huh?" She looked as if she was thinking.

"Yeah, some people never figure out what fills that void but I'll tell you the secret, its whatever your passionate about... You're passionate about dancing, so do it." I told her.

"Will you come and view some potential studios with me?" She asked.

"Of course I will, just let me know when." I responded.

I glanced at the clock on the wall and realized it was 11 in the morning.

I brushed my teeth, took a quick shower with Aaliyah and threw on my boxers.

I retrieved my phone from the kitchen.

Noticing the many missed calls, I didn't even know where to start.

I called Courtney first.

"Bruh, where have you been?!" He sounded annoyed.

"What's what?" I asked as I walked back into my bedroom.

"Diamond got hurt, she's been in the hospital since last night." He sighed.

My heart dropped.

"I'm on my way." I hung up and began moving quickly.

I love Diamond like shes my own, if anything happens to her, I'll never be able to live with myself.

"Aubree, what's wrong?" Aaliyah asked.

"My niece got hurt." I quickly answerd.

I was fully dressed and walking out the door with Aaliyah behind me.

We sped to the hospital.

I walked in and they weren't in the waiting room.

"Excuse me." I approached the receptionist.

"Yes, sir?" She gave me her undivided attention.

"Diamond Keyes' family, please?" I took a deep breath.

I was stressing.

"They are in a private waiting room. Follow me." She stood and we followed her.

We approached a door and I grabbed Aaliyah's hand.

"I got it, ma'am." I told her when she was about the open the door.

"Yes, sir." She walked off.

My heart was racing when I opened the door.

As expected, damn near everyone was here.

We all nodded at each other because now wasn't the time for loud and meaningful greetings. I kept it moving to Luke.

He stared me down as I walked up.

"What the fuck happened?" I asked him.

"If you would've answered your phone, you would've known." He barked.
