One year since the day our love finally saw the sun
One year since the day we held hands, in the park, for the first time
I kissed her cheek and assured her that our parents would accept us just like the constitution had
September 6, 2019, India
8 months since the day a mother gave us a murderous glare
And a father warned us that he didn't want our influence on his kids
6 months since we last visited the park
September 6, 2019, India
4 months since the day our parents' hearts disowned us
Their eyes flooded as they asked themselves where they went wrong
Because their princess was dreaming of a queen instead of a prince
September 6, 2019, India
2 months since the day we walked in the parade
Our love was proud
Our love was draped in a rainbow flag
1 month since the day we saw a young boy dance to ''You need to calm down''
When we smiled after a long time
September 6, 2019, India
It's 4:34 pm
The constitution has accepted us but our country's heart is still conflicted
Our love is closeted
Dreaming of daylight, dreaming of the park and the trees and the children
It's 4:34 pm
And its the time for a change
