Chapter 32

I arrived to class along with Eddie and Casey.

For the first time in a little while, Lucas hadn't walked to class with us. He left earlier in the morning.

To do what? I didn't know. He probably just wanted to get away from me. We hadn't spoken at all this morning. Relationships aren't perfect though. We're bound to hit speed bumps like this.

I quickly scanned the lecture theatre for a sign of Lucas since I couldn't see him in our usual seats. He was back down the front where he used to sit, surrounded by other people. He was purposely avoiding me now.

He looked up, his eyes locking with mine for a brief moment before he looked away. I shook off the sick feeling in my heart and hiked up the stairs to where my usual seat was, sitting down with Eddie to one side and Casey on the other side of Eddie, just like normal. The spot next to me was disturbingly vacant. It didn't feel right. "What is going on there?" Eddie asked. "Nothing." I said quickly, shaking my head. "Did you guys break up or something?" He questioned me. "No. We haven't broken up and we're not going to either. He just won't talk to me." I mumbled. "Dude, what'd you do?" He sighed. "Nothing. He's just not okay with us keeping it a secret." I told him. "Wrong." Casey spoke, throwing himself into the conversation. He had been quiet up until now. "What?" I asked. "I said 'wrong'. He's fine with you keeping it a secret. He's not fine with you making it out like he's some sort of creep coming on to you." He explained."He talked to you about this?" I hissed. "He talks to me about a lot of things." He shrugged. I opened my mouth to reply but Professor Martin started the lesson and I was silenced.

I sat there, fuming. I was absolutely infuriated. I couldn't believe he talked to Casey about us. He wouldn't even talk to me about us! He knows I have issues with how close the two of them are, and so he does this? Talks about me behind me back? Now, I was pissed off. I had been waiting for this to blow over so things could get back to normal. Lucas was the angry one, but now I was too. I couldn't believe he brought Casey into this. I was so annoyed that I couldn't pay attention during the entire lesson. I sat there fidgeting, imagining all the things I wanted to yell at Lucas.

The most frustrating thing was not being able to talk to him That was until Professor Martin told us to go on a ten minute break and I saw Lucas rise from his seat before heading towards the door. "I'll be back." I said to Eddie and stood up, heading off down the front to follow Lucas out of the room. When I got out I saw him leaving the building. He didn't have his things with him so he wasn't leaving for good. He wasn't really the type to skip class. I could have waited until class was over with but I would explode from keeping this bottled up. "Hey!" I caught his attention. He stopped and turned to me, giving a questioning look.

I nodded towards the only private place nearby which was the staircase in the building.

He visibly sighed before coming towards me.

Good.

I was half expecting him to ignore me again. The two of us went into the empty stairwell and the second I heard the door close, I turned to him. "Do not talk about our relationship with Casey." I demanded, not holding back on just how pissed off I was over this.

"You talk about us with Eddie." He pointed out. "This is different." I said through gritted teeth. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You need to just stop.

Everything you're saying lately is total bullshit and it's giving me a headache." He said.

He went to leave, but I wasn't done with this conversation yet. I didn't care how quickly this was escalating.

I was sick of not talking about this. "Oh yeah, real mature. Just ignore everything and walk away." I said. He stopped, giving me an incredulous look, like I was stupid or something. And maybe I was, but I was just so riled up that I didn't care how I sounded.
