Baby Came Home by The Neighbourhood

"J?" I announce as I walk into the funhouse. I drop my bags near the front of the door.

"Cars up and waiting at the mill" I nod and walk further into the house.

I look up to see the bathroom light on but the door is shut. I shrug my shoulders and bring the bags with me as I go up the steps.

I set them done by the bed before walking towards the bathroom. I knock lightly and twist the door knob as I push in the door.

"Hey" Jack is combing through his newly dyed green hair. He's shirtless at the moment but still halfway dressed in black jeans.

He looks over at me and tilts his head. His eyebrows furrow and he takes a few steps towards me.

"You look....the same" his fingers trail across my cheekbone and I lean away from his warmth.

"I don't wanna talk about it. Got the clothes at least" I grab onto his wrist and lightly push him away.

"Wanna pick my outfit for tonight?" I ask offering a smile.

His eyes wander around my face. He grabs onto my hood and pulls it down.

"Why do you hide from me?" he whispers and I pull away as he pushes a lock of my stringy hair behind my hair.

"'M not hidin" I mumble and shake my head. I walk out of the small area and towards the nightstand. I pull out his pack and light up another cigarette.

I hear his phone rings and it triggers something in me. A high pitched ringing goes off in my ear drums and I suck a breath in through my teeth.

"Fuck" I fall to my knees and nearly bang my head on the nightstand.

I hold my head as the ringing continues. I can barely hear anything aside from that. It's like a siren blowing off in my head. My brain pounds against my skull and I fear that if it continues my ears will bleed.

"Make it stop. Make it stop" i plead.

It stops in a second and I let out a sigh of relief.

"Boss?" his voice is far. My ears still haven't properly focused.

"We're up here" it's drowned out by the dull pounding in my head. The ringing stopped but the migraine is still there.

"Somethings not right....." he continues taking but I can't tell exactly what he's saying. I make no move to stand up, instead I place out a hand in front of me as I hold onto the edge of the nightstand. I rest my forehead on the edge and fight the urge to smash my skull into the hard wood.

".....ran out of the salon" I scoff, if only you knew why.

"She can't come out tonight. Can't have her have an episode in front of clients" I laugh and at this they stop talking. I twist my head to see both men staring down at me like i'm a puppy who got its leg broken.

"I'll embarrass him, in front of his friends" I giggle and close my eyes as the pounding increases.

"Clients doc, not friends" he corrects me and I sit back on my legs. I look up at the ceiling and smile.

"You refuse to call me by my name. It's always doc this, doc that. Why is that?" I look back at him but he gives away no emotion, nothing to let me in on what he's feeling, thinking.

"Just like you refuse to address me by my name, it's always Jack this, Jack that. Why is that?" he crouches down to my level. As he mentions his name I see him flinch for a moment. I get distracted by his tattoos that seem as though they're coming to life.

I blink a few times and rub my eyes before taking a drag. I turn around in my spot and place a hand on his chest, I rest the other on his shoulder.

"Why do you flinch at the sound of your name?" I question him, the psychologist in me pressing to know more behind every action of his.

"God, you just never stop. Always asking questions. Always fucking digging" he grabs a hold of my head and digs his thumbs into my temples. I groan and press the butt of my cig behind his ear and he hisses.

"I'll be downstairs"

And with that it's like the green light goes off in Jacks head and he wraps his hand around my throat. He presses my head into the mattress behind me and I laugh out loud.

"What are you gonna do? Choke me to death?" I ask with a smile.

"What if I do?" he asks, nearing my face.

"You won't" I smile, feeling as if i've won a prize.

His hold becomes much stronger, he tightens his grip on the sides of my throat to not actually close any airways, just apply pressure to them.

I laugh uncontrollably and he takes that opportunity to pull me up. He pushes me back and I fall on his bed.

I sit up and watch him stand over me. I turn around and get up on the mattress.

"You can't kill me J. Not anymore" I wrap an arm around his neck. I'm taller than him at this angle.

"You let me into your world. Try as you might, can't get rid of me" I smirk and hold the side of his face as I hang my head.

"And I can't get you out of mine" i say against his mouth. Instead of joining our lips together I take a final drag before throwing it into a glass of water on the nightstand.

"What am I gonna do with you?" he asks me and I nip at his bottom lip.

"The question isn't what you're going to do with me. It's more of....what you will do for me" he waits for me to continue.

"I've thrown away my whole life for you and dropped it all. Time and time again. I want something in return for my loyalty" I pepper kisses down the side of his jaw and suck lightly on his skin.

"What is it?" he asks. He's completely under. I nibble at his earlobe and smile as I lick the shell of his ear.

"Everything"
