Wires by The Neighbourhood
"Why are you here doctor?" he asks me as I adjust myself on the cold metal seat.
I don't have an office to my own so i'm currently sitting across from him in what seems to be an interrogation room.
"I am your new psychiatrist" I tell him and he leans back in his chair. He's chained down to the seat. His hands are on top with handcuffs secured tightly around hem.
"You don't say" he says sarcastically.
"And where's my other psychiatrist? Did I scare her off?" I laugh.
"You could say that" I shrug.
"So, what do you want to know doc?" he asks. I open his case file.
"Tell me about your past" I say to him and he smirks.
"Which one?" he asks.
"Childhood" he crosses his arms as best as he can.
"I don't remember anything. Strange says that I blocked it out to protect myself. Which I think is a load of bullshit"
"Why do you say that?" I ask him.
"He fucks with my brain all the time. That's why I can't remember anything. Not because i'm blocking it like some freak who can't deal with feelings" he says frustrated.
"What do you mean?" I ask not quite understanding what he's referring to.
"It's a fucked up world we live in Dr. Quinzel" he adds on.
I look at him with confusion clear as day in my features.
"Figure it out doc. You're smart enough to" I stare at him for a moment as he runs his fingers through his hair. Back when I used to know him his hair was all back with hints of green in it.
"Why'd you dye it all green?" I ask him and he looks at me in confusion.
"Favourite colour. Next to-" I interrupt him.
"Purple" we say at the same time.
He smirks.
"What's your favourite colour doc?" he asks me.
"Guess" I begin to jot down small things about him.
"Hm....red?" he says and I look up at him.
"Is that a questions or an answer?" I ask him.
"Answer" I smile and nod.
"How'd you know?" I ask. He shrugs.
"Have you always had it like that? Full on green?" I ask knowing he must have done it recently.
"Can't remember a time I didn't have it all green" he says to me. I clear my throat and straighten up.
"So what's the last thing you remember?" he rests his forearms on the table.
"Bits and pieces of my childhood. My father was an abusive fellow doc" at this im intrigued. Even when we were together Jack had never been able to open up like this.
"He used to beat my mom quite a bit. Even had a go at me a few times" he chuckles.
"The earliest thing I remember is him burning. out his cigarettes on my skin" he rubs his clothed arm.
"Do you have evidence?" I ask him carefully as I write down a few things.
He begins to roll up his sleeve and I watch before me as he presents his bicep to me. I lean over the metal table to take a closer look.
He's definitely gained more muscle since I last saw him. My fingers dance across his skin. I can see scars, but not the ones you'd get from a cigarette. They look all too familiar.
"I used to have the same scars as you" I whisper and look up at the man who's never left my mind for the past few years.
We're incredibly close to each other now. I can feel his breath every time he exhales.
"So you get it" he says and his eyes flicker from my lips to my eyes. I swallow thickly.
"I-" the door opens and I sit back quickly against my seat.
"Times up doctor" Jacks security guard says and I look at the clock hanging on the wall.
"Yeah, you're right" I chuckle before pushing the seat back and gathering my things.
"I'll see you later Jack" I say to him and his eyebrows furrow.
I smile to myself and walk out of the room without another word.
