Blood in the Cut by K. Flay

I wipe away the condensation from the mirror. I look at my hair in the reflection. The tips are half black and half red. Hopefully he colour doesn't fade too much after the washes. I know the black will last but not so much the red.

I get out of the washroom and into an empty room. My clothes are laid out in front of me. Ready to be worn.

I have about two hours until I need to get Rachel and drop her off at 250 52nd street.

I dry myself off and put on my clothes. Once my costume is on I walk to the bathroom. I take my hair out of my towel and comb through it to put it into pig tails.

"Gotta look pretty" I tell myself as I grab my makeup stuff.

I look like a racoon but I kinda....dig it?

I finish it of with red lipstick.

My phone vibrates and I walk towards my bed. I grab it off the sheets and see it's Frost.

"Hello?" I answer.

"He's in custody. I'll be there in ten" he says and hangs up. I walk downstairs and slip on my boots.

I slip the phone into the bra of my corset. I walk out and see a black van driving towards the funhouse. I shut the door behind me and walk out.

I open the passenger door and hop inside. I look behind to see three of his men in clown masks.

"Hey Johnny" I smile and he nods.

"How did it go?" I ask.

"Perfect" he answers curtly and I stare at him.

"Details Frosty" he looks at me then back onto the road.

"You dont want to know" he says.

"Tell me" he stays silent for a moment and I huff in my seat. I sink back into the chair and look out into the street. We're headed to her apartment I figure.

"The Bat came out of hiding. Just like he expected he would. The semi got thrown upside down and we were one man down. We got out just before, get this, Gordon comes back from the dead to arrest Joker" my eyes widen.

"Gordon? The one who 'took the bullet for the Mayor' Gordon?" I ask and he nods.

"One and only" he shrugs.

"Fuck" I say actually dumbfounded.

"We have some weapons in the back. Take your pick. Don't know if she's got protection or not. So, expect the worse" I lick my lips and turn around.

"You guys see a bat around there by any chance?" I ask and one pulls out a rusty metal bat. I smile and grab it from his hands.

"Thank you" I say and sit back in my seat.

"We have literally an artillery and you choose rusty sporting gear" I place it under his chin.

"Don't knock it till you try it" I tell him before setting the weapon in between my legs.

To fill in the silence as we wait to get to her building Frost tells me the details of where I'm supposed to get her. He tells me her floor number and her room number. A couple of minutes go by we reach the building. Frost parks near the back and looks over at me.

"Make it quick. We don't have much time before he tells them where he's keeping the hostages" I nod, open the door and hoping out.

"Harley!" he yells just as I'm about to go up the steps. I look back and he rolls down the window.
