Natalia knew the topic was sensitive to him. The subject of Juanita Roller. She tried to push it as carefully as possible as she also knew how he can sometimes let his wrath get out of hand. Just to get the ball rolling. Destroying the Zed troupe was her top priority, it was a pure coincidence when the governor discovered the tense history between Sage and the leader of the troupe. She says pure coincidence when honestly she did do a thorough background check on the demonic psychopath she brought into the frontlines most efficient task force. And she says psychopath when really she should call him a lunatic, a maniac, a complete and utter nutcase. Though he seems kindhearted and genuine, a dark history hiding pitch-black secrets isn't something you can easily escape from.
Whilst watching the swordsman walk away from her, Natalia noticed the rest of the squad watching from the kitchen, it was no surprise they were worried, he was acting odd. And despite the Governors sketchy and misleading thoughts on Sage that was just monologued, she did genuinely care for Him, she was just saying the truth. Ever since those two blast from the pasts left, Sage has been acting off, he had just gotten in a relationship with the emotionless marksman Levi and usually he'd want to spend every minute of every hour with him, despite his tough demeanour, however all he's been focused on is either sleeping or training. It worried Natalia.
Really what was wrong with Sage was his inability to feel anything anymore. Like yeah sure he cares for his friends and he loves Levi but a lot of has happened over the course of these months. A lot has came out, memories he wanted to forget, people he wanted to forget. It's just a shame whomever created him hates him so much. Now he would say god but what god would create a demon dragon? Obviously a god created Bonita because she's divine, perfect, flawless, the definition of 'Goddess' is imprinted on her.
Sage's PoV
Looking down at my weapons, my chin rested in the palm of my hand, my eyes half-lidded as my fatigue radiated off of me "Sage?" Awakening at Hugo's voice I sit upright after making a noise of acknowledgement "What's up?" I ask bluntly, unbeknownst to me "Well... I was just wondering if your doing okay?" He asks somewhat nervously as he scratches his jaw "Yeah I'm fine what makes you think something is wrong?" I ask, completely oblivious to how I've been acting recently "Well, you see, you haven't really spoken to anyone since Bonita and Karma left. All you do is train, sleep and work." He explains, humming I look down at my weapons again "I guess I haven't really had anything to say. All I want to do is train, sleep and work. Sometimes all I want to do is train and sleep." I murmur in response, his brows furrowing as he leans forward "You don't want to work? That's a bit unusual, not wanting to kill criminals?" He asks, my eyes opening fully as I stare at the ground.

As Sage stared at the ground, the wind coming from the open window drafting across his body carefully, blowing his usually pushed back hair to the side, just over his grey eyes as he looks up and stares Hugo dead in the eyes, complete seriousness plastered on his face "Tell me something, Hugo. When you kill a criminal you immediately think your doing the right thing, correct?" Sage asks calmly, closing his eyes as He leans back against the side of his bed "Correct..." Hugo responds reluctantly "But do you ever stop to think maybe he thinks he's doing the right thing. Maybe he has a reason for doing what he's doing. You consider criminals fools because they all follow the same law. 'why follow rules made by one specific person, God didn't rank us, we were all born equal!' Don't you see? Open your eyes Hugo, 'God' was something humans made up, a simple construct to inspire fear and create order. You read the bible over and over again and you go through those laws 'do no kill', 'do this' 'do that'." He explains, Hugo's eyebrows frowning as he stands "Why do we have to follow a bunch of stupid laws this one guy claimed were ordered from our creator." He chuckles "Sage... what's wrong with you." Hugo whispers.
As Hugo stands there staring at Sage who's leant over, his head in his hands "I've been thinking about it ever since my past was revealed... Bonita, she has a undeniable shine radiating off of her, as if she was some sort of goddess or angel, you want to know why? Because she was made with divine blood, if she weren't born of Bealaye, she'd be a goddess. A descendant at least." He laughs, messing up his hair as he tangled his fingers in the back curls "So that makes me a demon... the one thing no one has interacted with... because of their violent and disgusting personalities. Their psychotic and revolting bloodlust..." He continues on, concern washing over Hugo's face "There was once a dragon with wings of flames... he believed he was normal, despite the rejection of his own kind. He flew towards the galaxies most adored task force, their heroes... but as he got closer to the heroes the fiery wings began to fade - and he came crashing right back down to hell. Where he belongs." He laughs as he finishes the story, Hugo stands there, his mouth parted as he stares at Sage "I'm okay." He whispers as he shakes his head he lays on his back, Hugo backs out of the room after nodding and bowing slightly.
With the insane thoughts flowing through Sage's head, Hugo had to tell the rest of the squad. Something was massively wrong with Sage. As the mage ran into the kitchen he practically dived on the chair at the table "Guys I was just talking to Sage and he's got some fucked up shit going on upstairs..." he whispers, immediately gaining the squads attention as they all lean forward to listen in "So I went to ask Sage if anything was wrong... and he started asking questions about religion and talking about whether or not we think killing criminals is right. And then he told me a story..." As Hugo told the group the story Sage had just told him, their eyes widened to the same extent as Hugo's were.
Sage's PoV
I knew I said too much to Hugo but when I started I just couldn't stop... talking about religion and my thoughts on criminals. I'm starting to think that joining a group like this was too much for me, I know I can't be roped into being a criminal like Juanita but being tasked with killing people based on their own beliefs feels a bit wrong considering we are doing the same just with permission from the great authority... I've been thinking about it ever since Bonita and Karma left - but maybe I should resign. At least then the squad can get back to a normal routine.
