12 years later...
Time passes in the blink of an eye, doesn't it? It's like one moment you're trying to figure out what to do with the rest of your life, and the next you're married with two children. Cohen and I were blessed with two sweethearts named Christian who is six and Adela who is two. Our little boy was not too happy when he found out he would be getting a sibling, but now he and Adela get on really well, and he is already very protective of her. Cohen and I are very close and still as in love as all those years ago. Apart from a break that lasted for two hours back when we were in college, we have remained together for all of this time, incredibly happy. Cohen has been my rock when times have become particularly rough, especially with my family.
In the end my mother caused the biggest scandal that the press lapped up for months, when my father divorced her after he discovered her affair with Tyrian's father (the prime minister) Odo Mosely. It turned out that Odo had used their fling as leverage to make his son King, and instead of coming clean to save her supposed beloved daughter from a loveless marriage, my mother selfishly did his bidding so she could keep her title of Queen. Unfortunately all this was revealed in a drunken rambling three weeks after Anastasia and Tyrian's wedding, but they decided to stay married and try to make things work between them (as Tyrian had no knowledge of the plot), to get the country back in order after all of the negative press.
My mother slunk away from the limelight after all of that, and neither Anastasia nor I talk to her anymore, as she only calls us when she wants money. Luckily, Laurene and Ellison have always been there for the children and me and are amazing grandparents. My own mother did not even acknowledge the birth of my daughter, even when I invited her to the baby shower against my better judgement. Even though it pains me to say so, in my mothers defence, although my father was a great King, he was not a good husband and ignored his wife and children for the most part as we grew up.
In happier news, Anastasia and I have remained close and we often see each other, although her life has not been easy. When our mother was kicked out of the castle, she lashed out at Anastasia and me when we confronted her (because we were hurting ourselves), saying that she never really loved us and she would have set us up for an arranged marriage with criminals without batting an eyelid if it meant she could still be Queen. This was very hard, especially for Anastasia who had always been our mother's centre of attention growing up, and had to realise that she did not really care for us, at least not more then herself.
Even harder for her though was when Tyrian died in a tragic motorway crash that shook the world weeks after their daughter Avyanna was born. Anastasia had grown very fond of him, and relied on him, but was suddenly left to rule a country and raise a child on her own. Christian was a year old then, and Cohen and I decided to move back to Losington to support my sister who was in a dreadful state for the better part of two months. Anastasia is still the ruling monarch and does a very good job of ruling Losington fairly, and making sure it is much more equal in terms of women's opportunities, and is already training Avyanna to be the next monarch at five years old. Cohen and I have moved back to America now, although we make sure to visit Losington often - when my sister has time for us - as she is still alone.
Once we had graduated college Cohen and I got married and then travelled around the world doing charity work, giving what we could to those in need. We gained wide world press, and received an honorary knighthood for our efforts. We had just arrived in Brazil when the pregnancy test came back positive, so we decided to cut our trip short and head home. Cohen took over his father's business, which takes up a lot of his time, but he always makes time for his family.
Susanne is now very successful and owns her own luxury clothing and skin care brand, which is known worldwide. She is quite the little celebrity, but still makes time for her husband and children. She ended up getting married to Leo after he finally grew a pair and swore he only wanted her and would fight for their love. She did not really trust him until he told Cohen about their secret relationship, which ended in a fight I had to dismantle. It took Cohen ages to accept them together, but he accepted being Leo's best man at their wedding, so it is (mostly) all good between them now. I helped him to accept that they are each other's happiness, mainly by always threatening him with sleeping on the couch if he grumbles too much. Leo and Suzanne have a little boy named Elijah-Wolf who is five and a daughter called Amberly who is three, and they are expecting another in September, which I am sure is going to be another little boy.
Charlene has also grown up splendidly in the limelight, and is a famous DJ (her stage name is Liquid Dragon) with record-breaking songs that are played everywhere from the top clubs to the radio to adverts on the TV. What kick-started her career was when her friend leaked one of her tracks to YouTube when she was just sixteen, and within a week it had over 60 million views. She recently opened her own club in Ibiza, which is a popular destination for partygoers and is a sell-out all year round. She is not in a relationship at the moment, as she says she is too busy to find love, but I am sure there are sparks between her and her manager Kieran...
I am still good friends with Torryn, who settled down from her wild ways and married Josh, although they did break up throughout college and both saw other people, but then they reconnected at my wedding and got married themselves a few years back. They have twin boys named Casper and Carter, and even at two years old, you can tell that Casper is going to be a troublemaker whilst Carter is an angel. I have not seen Evolet in quite a number of years because the time has run away from me and we are both busy, but when we last talked, she was happy dating an author in San Diego.
"What are you thinking about?" Cohen whispers as we cherish the few stolen moments of peace we have managed to capture as the children are asleep.
"Just how happy you have made me." I yawn, snuggling in closer to him.
It is a Saturday morning, and surprisingly we are awake before the kids.
"Without you happiness wouldn't be achievable." Cohen insists as he plays with my hair that I recently cut short after I got tired of never having time to sort it out and Adela yanking on it.
Welcome to the life of a mom!
"I love you so much." I sigh tiredly, yet happily.
"I love you too baby, you know it will always only be you." Cohen replies before leaning down to kiss me in a way that still makes butterflies swarm in my stomach.
"Mommy, daddy wakey wakey time!" Christian sings as he suddenly erupts into our room with a heart-melting smile and his favourite toy Mr Jangles snuggled against his chest.
"Morning cutie!" I exclaim whilst lazily sitting up in bed, and Christian pads into our room expecting food.
Suddenly Adela starts crying from across the hall, signifying that the day has begun and there is no use staying in bed now. Whenever Christian awakes, Adela is never far behind.
However, I am very happy with how my life has turned out. It may be very busy - so much so that sometimes I hardly have time to breathe, but mostly it has been smooth sailing. I would not give up my children or my marriage for anything, as they are the most important things to me in this world, much more then material things. I love my babies so much, even if I look like a caffeinated zombie most of the time!
Every family has their difficulties, but as long as the ups are greater and more numerous then the downs, you can get through anything. Love conquers all.
This is it!! I am both sad and relieved to have finished another book.
