What on earth do I do now? Cohen obviously hates this girl for a reason, so I am unsure whether to be pleasant to her or not. Well, of course I would never be rude. Being malicious is simply not in my nature. There is certainly an awkward silence despite being in the rowdy corridors now that Cohen has stormed off, leaving me on my own – yet again. It is not very noble or courteous of him to leave his guests behind to clean up his messes. The students who were greedily watching the encounter have now mostly tuned their attention back to their own lives, and the hustle and bustle along the corridor flows at full force as people hurry on to lessons. Deciding it would be wise for me to follow the same course; I nod to the girl and start to hurry on, when a hand curls around my upper arm, effectively stopping me in place.
"Hi there, I'm Raven. Are you with Cohen? Who are you?" She asks with a furrow between her eyebrows.
"Oh, erm, hello. I am Rayne. Cohen's cousin." I introduce myself quickly, accepting her handshake.
"Cousin? I don't remember seeing you at any family gatherings or Cohen mentioning you."
I suddenly realise that this is the girl who broke Cohen's heart, and the boy next to her who I omitted to see earlier must be her new boyfriend.
"Well, I have not seen him since we were ten, but my mother is ill so I am staying with my auntie Laurene until she is better." I explain.
"Oh my, that's so sad! Hope she gets well soon!" Raven exclaims, but then the bell rings so I have an excuse to go.
"Thank you. Well, it was nice to meet you."
"The pleasure's all mine." The boy beside Raven smirks with wolfish eyes, causing Raven to slap his bicep angrily.
"Well good bye." I say hastily before following the rest of the students to where I hope is the office, leaving the attractive yet bickering couple behind.
Luckily, there are signs on the walls directing to the office, so I follow them yet still feel lost amongst the chattering students. I really wish Cohen is here, but I do not have a hope to find him considering there are many tall dark haired boys roaming the corridors. There are not as many people ambling around now, most having rushed to their lessons apart from the occasional slowcoach and chatterbox. I spot one girl at her locker, the same girl that caused me to bump into Raven earlier with flaming red hair and piercings. Unfortunately, just as I am admiring her hair and cool, edgy style she turns to look at me, scowling when she spots me staring.
"What are you looking at?" She growls defensively, causing me to blush in shame.
"Oh I am so sorry, I did not mean to be rude, I was simply admiring your hair and outfit." I reveal sheepishly, stumbling to a stop.
"Oh... really?" She asks, looking surprised.
"Yes, I am so sorry if I caused you any offense. It is just I think you look wonderful - although my mother would hang me if she ever saw me looking like you." I reveal, hoping that she will not use physical force against me.
"Mine too." The odd girl grins, slamming her messy locker door shut. "Hey, are you new here? I don't think I've seen you before." She asks, her heavy combat boots thudding against the polished marble floor as she struts over to me.
"Yes, I am staying with my cousins – the Kefalas's?"
"Yeah, I've heard of them. They're popular around here."
"Well my name is Rayne, Rayne Woods. May I ask yours?"
"I'm Torryn. You don't half speak funny." She says sceptically.
"Oh, I am so sorry I did not..."
"Oh no, stop its fine. Everyone's different. You look like a kicked puppy." Torryn laughs.
